MIKE & MINDY: 11 YEARS AND STILL CRAZY!!!

Welcome to February CRAZIES!!!  It's a new month and with it, a little renewed hope.  Valentines Day isn't too far off, Spring is around the corner and vaccines are beginning to roll out.  It's a very slow process but hey, it's a start.  February also marks another special occasion: The CRAZYVERSARY!!!  That's right!  This month marks 11 years since since I launched this blog with the help of a couple a rascally kids whose only mission in life it seemed was to wreak as much cartoony mayhem upon each other as possible!  I'm talking about Mike & Mindy of course, and today they come out of cartoon retirement again, albeit not in as grand of fashion as last year's bash.  But they are still here none the less and have brought another longtime pal of all things CRAZY with them!  Who you ask?  Scroll down and see!  Enjoy...

It ain't a party without cake, and it just ain't a CRAZY party without the legendary Dancing Asparagus coming OUT of the cake!  His origins are more simple than people realize, but the Cliff Notes version of it is he initially appeared as a mere mention in a jam comic that I ran with once it was my turn to draw a panel.  He appeared in my comics and art a lot during the run of M&M and Mushrooms and sort of became the unofficial Ambassador of the CRAZYVERSE.  He hasn't appeared much in recent years, but folks still remember him and it seemed only appropriate that he'd appear again as Mike and Mindy make their own return during their special month.  They may all be retired now, but these characters all still mean a lot to me.  They were my first stars and they will always be a very important part of the CRAZY legacy.

Well, that's all for this first week of February, but we'll be back next time with some fun guest art all paying tribute to the madness that is Mike & Mindy!  In fact, we'll be treated to this guest madness all month long, so stay "Tooned!"  Until next time, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

A KNEE-HIGH KINDA GUY!!!

We are back and January is done!  Well, in a few more days it is at least, but that's neither here nor there!  We are one month into 2021 and hopefully things are looking up for everyone.  It's a long road ahead, but the destination is in sight.  We just have to be patient and careful.  But today is all about art, and this week's entry offers big things in a small package!  Enjoy...

Watch where ya step!  That ain't no bug, it's the Inch High Samurai!  Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with this legend, but I can't help but think that Antman HAD to have drawn some inspiration from it!  This was probably one of the simplest drawings I'd done up to that point, and it's one of my favorites.  I'm rarely that pleased with my own art, but I think it's because I just plain kept things simple that this one came out so good.  As artists, I think we feel the urge to load as much into a panel or page as possible, but more often than not, less really is more.  Especially if the extra elements really just turn to clutter.  It's certainly something to think about while drawing.

And that's a wrap on January 2021!  Next month, some old pals will stopping by with some fresh looks as they celebrate another birthday, so be sure to come back and say hi!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HUMPTY TAKES A BUMP!!!

Welcome back!  We are more than halfway through the first month of the year and I sincerely hope that all of you are staying safe and finding ways to keep busy during these trying times.  Outside of comics and illustration, I've actually been branching out into more dimensional art, including masks and puppets and am even working on a kitbashed model!  Depending on how these things come out, I might even share them in an eventual blog post!  Until then, we're still on an art kick here, and what I'm about to drop is pretty darn funny!  What am I talking about?  Scroll drown and see!  Enjoy...

Many have wondered what caused Humpty Dumpty's great fall.  Some have even wondered why the king's horses and men couldn't put him back together again?  Me personally, I always wondered what was so important about Humpty Dumpty in the first place that it would necessitate royal intervention in his rescue?  And further more, what help could hoofed animals like horses actually provide in piecing him back?!?  I have no answers to the latter questions but I can confirm what caused his fall: He was drunk off his rocker!  Factor in his rounded, solid posterior and the flat surface he was sitting on... It's a recipe for tragedy.  This was one of my favorites to work on during this round of Animal Alphabets.  Many wanted me to do a CRAZY version of the Humpty Dumpty tragedy after I posted this and, admittedly, I have been thinking about doing a graphic novel collection of fairytales.  Gotta love public domain, eh?  Perhaps that's something I'll work on in the coming year!

That's all for now folks.  Be sure to come back next week as we end January with some big laughs wrapped up in a small package!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

GOLDEN GOOSED!!!

We are back!  Hopefully things are looking brighter as we slowly pass through January.  Why does the first month always feel like the longest?  I have no answer for that, but I do have some art, so if you'd kindly scroll down, hopefully that'll provide some laughs!  Enjoy...

The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs.  How many of those did WCW let slip through their fingers during the 90's?  Sorry folks, my love of old school wrestling slipped in there for a second!  This was another theme for Animal Alphabets, as are all the other posts for this month.  Had a lotta fun drawing this one and the reaction it got was very positive.  That is clearly one strong bird!

Well, that's two posts down and two more to go in January.  It's very early on, but the way I see it, we are just THAT much closer to Christmas now!  Ain't that exciting?  There's even more to get excited about as next week, we got some art coming that'll crack you up, so be sure to come back for the yolks, er, jokes!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

WELCOME TO 2021!!! TIME FOR A ROYAL REBOUND!!!

Hey there CRAZIES!!!  And welcome to the new year!  I think I speak for just about everyone when I say that 2020 can stuff an asbestos-coated cactus up its butt and go jump in a pool of lava!  But enough about that old thing.  It's a new year and with that comes many new possibilities, including hope.  I don't know what the future holds, but there is a light at the end of a VERY long tunnel.  If we just stay patient and be mindful, maybe that light can be reached sooner.  But for now, let's focus on art, because as luck would have it, I just so happen to have some and its ready to be seen in a new light!  So let's get this party started, shark we?  Enjoy...

If you thought the real Prince was a baller, then you CLEARLY never saw the Frog Prince take the court!  The Murphy Crew never knew what hit them!  Today's art sees a return to an old Animal Alphabets theme where we gave our interpretations of classic fairytale creatures, with F being used, obviously, for the Frog Prince.  It wasn't hard to find inspiration for this one as the classic Chappelle's Show skit (Where the late Charlie Murphy and his pals get schooled in basketball by Prince and the Revolution, in full costumes allegedly) was fresh in my mind and I just ran with it!  I remember this getting a pretty good response on Twitter when I initially posted it, though I can't remember whether it was before of after the real Prince had passed away, as it's dated from 2016.  Concussions and age take a toll on the old memory banks.

And that's all for this first post of 2021.  Obviously, times are less than ideal right now, but I see some signs of hope, small as they may be.  Hopefully, this will be the year we get things under control and start to set things right.  In the meantime, be kind to each other and do come back next week for some golden laughs!  Until next time, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  I know, Christmas is over.  But there is some comfort here.  Know what else is over?  The wretched year that was 2020!  There's no need to go into detail here.  We all know ins and outs of it at this point.  Will things really improve?  I can't say for sure, but I'm somewhat optimistic that we'll rebound a bit.  As Howard Jones put it, "Things Can Only Get Better!"

As we go into 2021, remember kindness folks.  There's a severe lack of it in the world today and that needs to change.  We are all one people.  We triumph and we hurt all the same.  As we move on and recover, let us also not ignore the past, for there is much to learn from it.  We've all much to learn, but we are a resilient bunch.  Let the coming year be the start of something good.  I promise I'll do my part by posting moderately funny art and, God willing, maybe even have a reason to post con pics again.  The future is ours, so let's make it a good one!  Until then, my CRAZIES, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all in 2021!  Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS CRAZIES!!! THERE'S A REASON HIS NOSE IS SO RED!!!

CHRISTMAS HAS COME!!!  Well, in two days it will anyway!  But, we're pretty far into things at this point, so may as well start celebrating now, am I right?  Since we're already in a celebratory mood here, I see no need to stretch things out.  Scroll down and have some pre-holiday laughs on me!  Enjoy...

Ever wonder how his nose got so red?  Now you know!  Rudolph likes the nog a little too much!  But after a long night like the one Rudolph goes through every Christmas Eve, can't blame the poor deer for wanting to loosen up a bit!  I am not an egg nog fan at all.  This likely stems from an early age where I mistook it for milk and well...  BLECH!!!  Needless to say, I don't keep any handy during the holidays.  Now hot cider and hot chocolate on the other hand... PLENTY of that is kept on hand!

And that's all she wrote for this week and Christmas!  I hope everybody got a kick out of the holiday themed art this year.  Next week, we'll be back with a fitting sendoff to 2020, so be sure to come back and check it out.  Christmas isn't gonna be the same this year, but we still have the spirit and will still celebrate, just in a different way.  I wanna wish all of you a very Merry and safe Christmas.  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!
