THE DAPPER WEB OF FUN!!!

May 2019 is coming to a close.  But that's not a bad thing.  Summer is officially here!  In fact, it's starting a bit earlier here in sunny San Diego as the Del Mar Fair kicks off Friday!  Yeah yeah, I know it's the San Diego County Fair now.  But dammit, I'm old school and I'm gonna call it what it was called for most of its existence!  I'll certainly be taking a few years off of my life with the food they sell, but it's totally worth it!  But more on that later.  Right now, it's time for some art, and weaving a web of wonderful for y'all today!  Enjoy...

Aw spiders.  So many people fear these poor bugs and I'll never know why.  Sure, some of them got giant fangs and are poisonous, but honestly now.  ANY animal is dangerous if given a chance!  Spiders are just misunderstood.  I bet if they all wore top hats and bowties they'd be considered cuddly afterward!  Thankfully, the good folks behind Pinch Punch Post see them as I do and were  kind enough to give them a spotlight one month.  I'm always happy to draw spiders and this one is among my favorites.  Very happy with the colors I gave it.

And that's a wrap for May!  But fear not for next week, the annual CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN returns!  Each week we'll revisit a past show all leading up to this year's experience with never before seen pictures!  The art will be on hold until afterward, but the con pics tend to get more views anyway, so it all works out!  So be sure to come back next time and give it a look!  Until then, take care and ill catch y'all later!

SNACK TIME!!!

Hey hey CRAZIES!!!  May is starting to wind down, but that doesn't mean the fun's going with it.  Quite the opposite actually.  The fun's REALLY kicking into to high gear in a couple of weeks!  But now's not the time for that.  Now is the time for some art.  And I just happen to have some for you fine folks!  Hope y'all are hungry!  Enjoy...

Raccoons.  We all know they're cute, but we also know they're kinda dangerous.  In all my years, I've only seen one living raccoon and it was actually last March.  While out on my nightly walks, I'll usually pet some of the friendlier neighborhood stray cats.  One particular night, I saw a pair of reflective eyes poking out from behind a bush.  I walked up to it with my hand stretched, saying "Here kitty.  Want some pets?"  As it backed up, a nearby porch light revealed a bit more.  I looked at it and said "You probably don't want any pets because you're a raccoon!  A three-legged one at that!"  And then it bolted off as quickly as its three legs would take it!  He was a big S.O.B. too!  Haven't seen a living one since, but I know they're still around.  This theme came from Pinch Punch Post sometime in the fall of 2015.  Raccoons are cartoon naturals, so this one was pretty easy draw.  Hopefully my next raccoon encounter will happen at a time where I can get a better picture and not get bit!

And that's all for today.  We'll be back next month to end May properly and announce some big news that I'm sure will get everyone excited.  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THIS BLOG'S GOIN' TO THE DOGS... LITERALLY!!!

Back again my CRAZIES!!!  Still in a pretty ecstatic state over my new laptop!  Part of me still wonders if this is legit or just some twisted dream.  Since I've definitely posted some stuff recently, I'm gonna say it's real.  Unless it's not, at which point, are any of us truly real?  I'll tell what is real though, this art I'm posting!  So let's shake off this existential nonsense and get to it, sound good?  Enjoy...

Corgis and pugs.  Two of cutest, and spazziest, breeds of dogs you'll ever come across!  I'm not sure what started the more recent corgi revolution, but they sure are everywhere at these days!  Between the short frames, big noses, long ears and stubby butts, corgis are a cartoonist's dream!  And pugs look like living cartoon characters.  Both are naturals for some CRAZY art and luckily, one of the many Twitter art collectives gave me an excuse to work a couple in!  I honestly can't remember whether this one was for Animal Alphabets to Pinch Punch Post or possibly even a dual thing, despite me rarely combing collective pieces.  Either way, it was fun to work on and hopefully Power Pug will find a spot in the Bubble Fox lineup someday.  Cardigan Corgi's already gone on to be a fan favorite and I'm always looking to add another future star!

Well, that's all for now.  We'll be back next time with some little moochers that are sure to melt your heart.  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CRAZYVERSE IS BACK IN BUSINESS Y'ALL!!!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY HEY HEY HEY!!!  That's right everybody!  After a month-long sabbatical and a one-week tease, the CRAZYVERSE is back up and running!  So excited about it all that I even hired Mr. Scream to come out here from WPIG Radio in Aurora, IL to type out today's first line! It's been a rough go lately.  After eight years, my original MacBook Pro finally died on me.  While I was putting the finishing touches on the next Bubble Fox book no less!  Luckily, everything was saved, but the timing was pretty horrible.  It was also right before a con I was tabling at and still needed prints to finish!  My Aunt Marisa was kind enough to let me use her computer for a few days, but she lives considerably far from me and her version of Photoshop was a bit older than what I was used to.  That coupled with my WonderCon trip and an increased work schedule just made it tough to get things done without my laptop.  Thankfully, things are going well right now, and I got's me a new laptop!  Momentum's on my side for once and I'm gonna keep it going!  But enough about that.  Y'all wanna see som art and dammit, I'm gonna deliver!  Enjoy...

It's no secret that Kim Belding is a very dear friend of mine.  The creator of the hilarious web comic, Picpak Dog, has long been a supporter of all things CRAZY and at this point has probably drawn my characters almost as much as I have!  Every year, I do some birthday art for Kim and he does some for me too.  Our birthdays both fall in April, so it's easy to be in a giving mood!  This art is from four years ago back in April 2015.  Kim was one of Mike & Mindy's biggest fans and always enjoyed it when the brats were bloated beyond belief with helium, so I gave him some balloons for his birthday as well!  Astute fans will notice that Mindy's even sporting some Picpak-colored bloomers for the occasion!  She always had a stylish flair!  Thanks again Kim for being such a good pal and a supportive pal.  I always got you back!

And that's all for this week.  The art rolls on next time with some canines that will hopefully have everybody howling with joy!  So be sure to come back and take a look!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

WONDERCON 2019: BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, EH?!?

And we are FINALLY back...  For now!  As previously mentioned, I've been having all sorts of computer issues lately, so updates sadly had to stop as a result.  It's been jolting to say the least.  Since I started doing this blog, I'd never missed a single post until last month, but it just couldn't be helped.  But I'm here now, and I see no reason to hold off on this any further, so here it is:  WonderCon 2019 is a go!  Enjoy...

Ferngully cosplay isn't very common, but as you all know, I love the offbeat stuff!

A Baseball Fury!  Just in time for The Warriors 40th anniversary!  Last year saw a huge group photo recreating the movie's iconic poster at New York Comic Con, so it was cool to see some of that spillover to the West Coast!

"This is the story all about how
My life got flipped,
Turned upside down..."

I Dream Of Genie cosplay?!?  At this point, I've seen cosplayers doing this, Gilligan's Island, Small Wonder and Mork & Mindy.  And yet nobody ever does ALF

This Gilderoy Lockhart cosplay was already amazingly spot-on...

...But to include his book with the living-portrait front cover made it all the more incredible!

OOOOOOOH YES!!!  The Undertaker and Paul Bearer are in the house!

There's always a first time for everything at WonderCon, and this year was no exception.  For the first time ever, here's some All Dogs Go To Heaven cosplay!

They may be down a few members, but the Sinister Six are ready for some MCU power casting!

Gotta admit, these Candyland cosplayers were my favorites of the con!  Everybody older than 32 went nuts over these guys!

Recess is out and for good reason: It was largely Spring Break for many schools.  There was no reason for recess!

Pam stopped by to finally fulfill my wish to see some Archer cosplay in person.  Seriously, CollegeHumor and Dorkly are always putting together Top 30 lists for Archer cosplays and almost all of them are from East Coast cons.  The West loves the show too!

When they aren't busy carrying the banner, the Newsies can be found cosplaying at comic cons!

Don't get too close, Gadget.  Monterey Jack is on another cheese bender!

These guys weren't waiting for the Fox/Disney merger to finalize.  The X-Men and Guardians were ready to throw down right there on the spot!

The Mystery Men crashed the party opening night!  From left to right: Invisible Boy (Not pictured), Blue Raja, The Bowler, The Shoveler and Mr. Furious!

Had never seen Selena cosplay before, but WonderCon's always setting the bar for new cosplay!

Come to think of it, I'd never seen A Goofy Movie cosplay before until this year either!  I saw a LOT of it actually, including a guy dressed as Max running around to different booths and attendees getting people to sing After Today with him.  And yes, I was one of the ones that joined along!

We close things out with the greatest finale ever: An impromptu cosplay dance party!  For roughly two hours after WonderCon ended, nobody wanted to leave!  Everyone just gathered on the patio out in front of the convention center and just started dancing!  I don't know who was playing Ed from Good Burger, but the dude was amazing!  It certainly softened the blow of the show ending and I look forward to next year's dance parties!

And that was WonderCon 2019!  Bit of a down year for me.  The troubles of home kinda followed me there, so I had a hard time enjoying myself.  But in the end, I still got out, caught up with friends, scored some good finds and saw some amazing cosplay!  I'll call that a win!  Until next time Anaheim, thanks for the wonderful WonderCon memories!

And that's all she wrote for WonderCon but hopefully not all she wrote for May already.  With any luck, I'll be back next week with some New (to the blog) art and hopefully some nice updates on other projects coming up!  I do appreciate the patience and understanding and apologize for dropping the ball.  And for any that are sad that the WonderCon posts are now over, fear not.  The SDCC countdown begins in June!  Never a dull moment here when I can post!  So until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
