HOPPING INTO FALL OFF ON A BLUE NOTE!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  And welcome to September!  Although Fall is officially still a few weeks off, the Autumn Spirit's already hitting these CRAZY parts as college football is back (SCREW THE NFL!!!) and smell of Pumpkin Spice has permeated the air!  I'm already fixing to grill up some bratwurst and boil up some cider because it is my favorite time of year!  But, we do have some art to get to first and since it is the start of a pretty colorful month, why not celebrate with some more CRAZY Colored Pencil Portraits?  So scroll down and let's get the party started!  Enjoy...

Well now, would ya look at that?  It's Charlie Bunny, Pepper's best friend from Bubble Fox!  He and Pepper have certainly had some fun adventures over the years, as only a rabbit and dragon can.  And even though Charlie sometimes takes advantage of the fact that he's older and little more up to speed with things than Pepper is (Pepper's technically an infant after all), they still look out for each other and make fun a top priority!  As mentioned in the opening, this piece along with all the coming art this month was rendered in colored pencils, PrismaColor to be precise!  It's a medium I've totally fallen in love with over the last few years and I just can't get enough of them!  The darker to medium blues didn't blend as well as I would've liked, but for the most part, the colors all work.  Brown doesn't really have an opposite on the color wheel, but with these shades being a bit more on the orange/red side, I felt blue would be enough to make Charlie pop, and he does!  When it comes to coloring, most of it is just trial and error really and also just knowing the basics of color theory.

Well, that's it for Week 1 of September 2025, but if you are a fan of colored pencil art, then you are in luck my friend because we got three more pieces coming your way this month!  So be sure to come back next time and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

HAPPY EASTER CRAZIES!!!

Happy Easter my CRAZIES!!!  Gonna keep things short this week.  It's spring break, we got some holidays this weekend and rascally rabbits are all over the place!  So let's get going!  Longtime CRAZIES know that I am a sucker for Reese's Cups and pretty much anything crossing chocolate and peanut butter.  I can't explain why this combination is so magical, but dammit, it works!  So when Jennifer Cuthbert and I hosted the CRAZY Easter Egg Hunt a couple years ago, I knew exactly where I wanted to go with it.  Apparently Bubble Fox did too!  Poor Pepper and Charlie.  If it's any consolation boys,  Bubble went through five gallons of prune juice trying to pass that sucker!

Well, that's all for this week, but we'll be back next week with some uplifting art that really calls out some blowhards!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!  Happy Easter!

PARALOONING!!! CATCH THE BREEZE!!!

Back for more are we?  Well then, you've certainly come to the right place as we got MORE of EVERYTHING this month as we continue our Battle Against Inflation, which in and of itself is all about more to begin with!  Well then, now that I've grossly inflated this paragraph, let's say we float down and see what artistic masterpiece (HA!!!) is in store for us today, shall we?  Enjoy...

Bubble and his pals sure know how to have fun.  Why parasail when you can para-loon?!?  Willow may not get it, but Pepper and Charlie sure do!  They stayed puffed for hours, enjoying fun in the sun and even taking a bounce or two among the waves!  I think that shark and octopus might be a little jealous that they didn't get to have a few turns themselves!  Eventually, all that helium came to pass, leading to Pepper and Charlie having the squeakiest farting contest ever!  This piece is from another art collective that Jennifer Cuthbert and I hosted on Twitter last summer called the #CRAZYSummerBlowup!  In it, artists are challenged to draw their characters either inflated into beach/pool toys or just having some summer fun in general!  This piece was a lot of fun to draw and features a very rare shot of Bubble Fox front-facing!  Can't thank Jimmy Gownley enough for showing me how its done!

Well, another week down as we are already at the halfway mark for January, but our fight against inflation is far from over because next week, it's all going to the dogs!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE ELECTRIFYING WHITE RABBIT!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  September is here!  Yeah, I know, Summer vacation is over, though I haven't been a student in 13 years and most schools are year-round now anyway, still, that sentiment will always exist come Labor Day Weekend.  But not all is lost, for the Spooking Season is officially here!  Yup, Halloween is on the horizon and stores are already pumping so much pumpkin spice into their products that people are gonna be farting cinnamon and nutmeg until December!  But we'll be covering that all in good time.  You're here for some art!  At least I hope you are.  Frankly, I'm surprised spammers even bother posting comments sometimes around here, but that's neither here nor there.  I got some art to share so scroll down and take a look if you will!  Enjoy...

Well, that was certainly one way to get his watch working again!  You just can't trust a March Hare.  They're far too easily influenced by Mad Hatters!  Continuing from last month's theme of fairy tale creatures, I figured for September, I'd finish off this round of Animal Alphabets, which was creatures of myth and fantasy.  Alice In Wonderland certainly has its fair share of critters in it, both real and fantastical, and it all started with the White Rabbit catching Alice's attention.  This was a fun piece to do and actually had what Bob Ross would call a happy little accident happen to it.  You see, I draw these on vellum paper, a good thick stock that works well for both dry and wet media.  Certain marker colors though do tend to really bleed through, long after they've dried even, yellows and oranges being the biggest offenders here.  In most cases, I'd just erase the overshoots in Photoshop.  This time however, the spreading yellow left a really cool glowing effect on the White Rabbit, so I decided to just leave it in!  Happy accidents indeed!

And that's that for this first full week of September!  Be sure to come come next week for more fairytale goofiness courtesy of your pals at the CRAZYVERSE!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

WHITE BEFORE LABOR DAY!!!

We are back CRAZIES!!!  Limping through August, but still hanging in there!  We got even more inspired silliness to share with you today, so let's cut the chit chat and hop right in!  Enjoy...

Sheesh Rabbit!  If it weren't for the belly and ears, you'd be nothing more than a floating face!  But honestly now, who DOESN'T enjoy a good marshmallow square every once in a while?  Today's theme came from PinchPunchPost back in 2016.  Simply put, it was a white rabbit, so I decided to have a little more fun with it and add some milk and a marshmallow square for good measure.  For those wondering why I didn't throw any mayonnaise in for added laughs, well, mayonnaise is just straight disgusting!  The mere thought of it is... BLECH!!!

That's all for this week, but fear not!  We're letting the cat out of the bag next time for some real fun!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

GETTIN' JACKED WITH THE JACKALOPE!!!

Welcome to March!  Can you believe we are already two months into 2020?  Time flies but it's flying into a time of year I can't help but get excited for: CON SEASON!!!  Many big shows start kicking off right around this month along with a host of smaller cons popping up around the big ones for good measure!  I'll be heading to one myself this weekend, but more on that later.  We have also entered the Season of the Boysenberry!  Knott's Berry Farm celebrates 100 years of operating this year and a big part of that celebration will no doubt be the annual Boysenberry Festival that is always among the highlights of my year!  The food, the atmosphere, the fact that it's an Orange County-based theme park that doesn't involve taking out a loan against my home just to go and you can see why I and so many others love going to this Southern California gem!  Needless to say, a trip to Knott's will be part of my WonderCon experience next month!

That was a bit of a long intro there, but it is a new month, so it seemed appropriate.  Having said all that, how's about we just cut to the chase and jump into the art, shall we?  Enjoy...

The famed Jackalope, a rare mythical creature whose origins actually trace back to the American west!  It's basically a rabbit with antlers, so, no turning to stone if you see one or wish granting if you catch one.  In fact, there's nothing truly remarkable about them, though if America's Funniest People is to be believed, Jackalopes more or less run around wearing dated early-90's clothes and messing with stereotypical TV bullies.  Only Uncle Joey knows for sure.  This particular piece of art has some significance for me as it was done for Animal Alphabets after they asked me to draw the theme for the letter J that week, which just happened to be a Jackalope!  That round was all mythical creatures, and there were very few that started with J.  Luckily someone, possibly even me, remembered this furry scamp, and the rest is history!

Hey!  Did I mention that I'll be at a con this weekend?  I did?  In the first paragraph?  I never fully explained it?  Well, I'll take care of that now!  This weekend, March 6-8, I'll be hawking my wares again at the San Diego Comic Fest up at the Sheraton Four Points!  You can find me in Artist's Alley where my books, prints and sketch cards will all be looking for good homes!  It's a small but fun show that has some really cool panels and discussions scheduled and quite a few big name artists in attendance!  It's also a very affordable experience and won't sell out in a matter of seconds like some other shows.  So be sure to stop by, say hello and take a CRAZY book or card home with you!  I'll see you there!

That's all for today folks.  We'll be back next week for a bit of inspired art that all came about from some silly word play.  It'll be a good time for all, so be sure to come back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

BARNYARD BATTLE!!!

Welcome to February y'all!  Pretty exciting times ahead!  Black Panther comes out this month and the Oscars are just a few weeks away!  Not to mention, we're little over a month away from the first big con of the year, WonderCon!  But more on that as the weeks progress.  It's time for some art!  Enjoy...

Not sure why the Pig felt that a Penguin would be a noble steed, but that Rabbit's gone, porky!  This theme came about after I missed a couple of Daily Doodle themes that seemed to center around alliteration, one of which was "Rollerskating Rabbit" and the other being something about a pig and a penguin.  All I can really remember about it was that I combined the themes and for some reason I made the pig an antagonist riding the penguin.  I'm sure scientists are dying to study my brain someday after I kickoff to see just what the hell is going on in there!

And that's all for this week!  We'll be back next time for a special post as it also contains some special CRAZY fan art!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

ALICE AND THE MAGIC MUSHROOMS!!!

And we're done!  February 2016 is in the books!  Boy this year's off to a fast start!  Aren't they always though once you hit adulthood?  But enough about that.  There's artwork to be seen!  So sit back and enjoy…

Careful Alice.  I don't think those are truffles!  This theme came from the Daily Doodle and may well be several rolled into one.  Can't remember if it was a whole Wonderland week or just a day.  Felt weird making this kinda joke, but everyone seemed to like it.  Let's face it.  Lewis Carroll's work is pretty damn suggestive when you really look at it!  It's OK to be a little risqué from time to time.  Just don't make it a habit.  And that is my advice for today!

And so ends another month.  We'll be back to kick off March with some more CRAZY fun next week, so be sure to come back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
