WELCOME TO COLORFUL SEPTEMBER CRAZIES!!!

Well, another September is upon us, and with it, another Fall!  The Spooking Season has arrived!  I tell ya, I am ready for some crisp Autumn weather.  This past Summer was miserably hot and made it damn near impossible to enjoy anything.  BRING ON THE COLD!!!  Anyway, enough talk, it's time for some art!  For the past couple of years, September has highlighted some of my efforts with colored pencils, and I see no reason to change things now.  So scroll down and see the first of this month's CRAZY, hand-rendered, fine art offerings!  Enjoy...

Oh my!  He's vicious!  He's dastardly!  He's cunning!  Or at least he wants to be!  It's Bubble Fox's arch nemesis, Nega Bubble, Bubble's evil opposite self from a parallel dimension!  Whereas Bubble Fox is orange, Nega Bubble is Blue.  While Bubble Fox is kind and caring, Nega Bubble is evil and nasty.  And while Bubble Fox isn't necessarily the smartest, he is swift and crafty, of which Nega Bubble isn't, hence the reason Bubble Fox is always able to trick his foe into defeat anytime he shows up!  This piece could have turned out better if I'm being honest.  The blends on Nega Bubble came out great, but the backgrounds definitely did not transition very smoothly.  Admittedly, smoother blends are easier to accomplish on a smaller scale, as Nega Bubble doesn't take up much space in this piece.  To pull off a smoother background, I would've needed about six additional colors in-between the four already used.  Colored pencils are a time consuming process, but well worth the effort!

That's one week down as we kickoff September, but fear not!  Another more legend of the CRAZYVERSE will be making their way here next week in a newly rendered post!  So be sure to come back and give it a look!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

BUBBLE AND PEPPER: LOONY BALLOONISTS!!!

I'll keep it short this week.  Summer's coming to an end, it's super hot right now and the annual Guest Month is kicking off for Bubble Fox!  That won't affect the posting schedule for here since it's all cleaned up reposts anyway.  I do have some fun and VERY colorful posts coming your way that I'm excited to show off!  One of the reasons I take a month off every year is to not only rest and recharge for a bit, but also to work on other art, even learn knew skills and techniques.  I'm very behind on colored pencil work, so it'll be nice to catch up on those finally.  An artist never rests.  Even on break, I'm busy!

Well, that's a wrap on August 2026, but fear not!  We are gonna start fall off right with so much color it'll make Rainbow Brite lose her mind even!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN: OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH MORE OLD!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  With any luck, I'll be at opening day at the San Diego County Fair today, or the Del Mar Fair for us old timers!  I've been looking forward to the fair for weeks now as the urge for Chili Fries, Deep Fried Twinkies and White Oak BBQ has got my mouth watering!  But more than that, I just love the exhibits and gardening displays, not to mention's the animals and collections.  It's just a fun place.  Speaking of fun, there's something else on the other side of the country that's gonna be a LOT of fun...

For nearly ten years, I have taken part in the Team Cul De Sac Art Auction at HeroesCon in Charlotte,
North Carolina.  Though I've never had the pleasure to attend in person, I have had the pleasure of donating original art for the auction, and this year is no different!  Below are my offerings for 2026:

Melon Crazy: Pen and ink on Bristol Smooth Paper colored with Olo Markers.

Surf The Dragon: Pen and ink on Bristol Vellum Paper colored in PrismaColor Colored Pencils. (This piece in all took FIVE days to finish!)

For those of you heading to HeroesCon this weekend, June 12-14, now is your chance to not only own some original CRAZY art but also send a swift kick to the rear end of Parkinson's Disease once and for all as ALL proceeds go towards research of eradicating this horrible disease.  Richard Thompson, the creator of the wonderful and hilarious Cul De Sac comic strip, suffered from it and succumbed to the disease in 2016.  Humanity was robbed of not only a phenomenal cartoonist but a wonderful human being as well.  The auction itself in on June 12 and is free for convention attendees.

And now, it is time to continue our trip down memory lane as we head back to the recent past of 2016.  As the fog clears, you'll recognize Downtown San Diego and the San Diego Convention Center.  Ah yes, I see it now!  Cap up those Code Red Mountain Dews folks, because the CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN is on!

It isn't uncommon to see celebrities walking the streets of San Diego during SDCC.  Even Big Red himself-Oh my God!  If Santa Claus is doing what it looks like he's doing, he is definitely going on the Naughty List!

It is always a good idea to bring a snack with you to COMIC CON.  You burn a LOT of calories throughout the day!

He may not be as powerful as Silver Skeeter, but Quailman is definitely a badass!

The movie kinda sucked, but this cosplay was cool at least!

Now THAT is a hell of a hat!

Yes folks, that IS Paul Stanley of KISS hanging out at the Entertainment Earth booth!  They had some really cool toys and exclusives, but their swag distribution left a lot to be desired sometimes.

Even as a baby, Jack Burton's Porkchop Express was tricked out!

Always upping the ante, the FX Lawn once again wowed con goers with their amazing activations, including a zipline!

BOO!!!

A very long shot of the Petco Park Interactive Zone, and the infamous Mr. Robot Ferris Wheel that wasn't promoting Mr. Robot but totally was!

OOOOH YEAH!!!  MACHO MADNESS AND HULKAMANIA'S IN THE HOUSE!!!

One of the things I really miss about the old Hasbro booth were the super cool toy displays they'd build every year.  This one previewed the the battle scene from the then-coming Star Wars film, Rogue One.  I know Disney-era Star Wars has been a mixed bag at best, but man, that movie did not disappoint!

And finally, we close out this week with some cosplay that the Master would certainly approve of: Torgo!  He seems trustworthy...

And that was Comic Con 2016!  I do remember this being an extremely busy year at the show, but a very fun one as well.  It was kind of the final time that all the offsites had an open-door policy of just letting people come and go as they pleased.  They never really jammed up when they operated like this, but they sure do now with all these stupid reservation systems!  Hopefully in the future, they will look back at what worked in the past.

Well, that's another week down, but believe me, we got plenty more coming with the CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN!!!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE 2026 CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN IS HERE!!!

Welcome to June CRAZIES!!!  Summer is here!  Barbecues, theme parks, the start of the San Diego County Fair!  And, of course... COMIC CON!!!  That's right folks!  It is that time of year again and the time has come for some reminiscing about the joys of COMIC CONS past!  But first, we got a little something else to attend to, another tradition that has been going on for close to a decade now...

For nearly ten years, I have taken part in the Team Cul De Sac Art Auction at HeroesCon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

For those of you heading to HeroesCon next weekend, June 12-14, now is your chance to not only own some original CRAZY art but also send a swift kick to the rear end of Parkinson's Disease once and for all as ALL proceeds go towards research of eradicating this horrible disease.

And now, dear CRAZIES, it is time to proceed with the fun, the laughs, the memories.  I can barely contain myself even as I type, so let's just jump right in!  The year is 2015, the site is the San Diego Convention Center.  Hold on to your Batman Underoos because the CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN is a go!  Enjoy...

A sight rarely seen by most who go to SDCC: A near empty exhibit hall!  It's pretty wild to see the place before the booths go in.  Oddly enough, the place actually seems smaller when it's empty, despite the vastness of it all.  This was likely taken in Hall D looking south as the air wall separating Halls G and H is  up in the background of the picture.

Another behind the scenes shot looking east towards the front of Hall D.  The pony banner welcomes you to the eventual Hasbro booth, my home away from home for quite a few years.  From 2013-2019, I hung all their lights and monitors at both their main booth and their former Toy Shop booth.  It wasn't always the easiest booth to do, but the dudes who ran it were really cool and Hasbro always hooked us up with free toys and swag when the show was over.

Anytime is a good time for Dia De Los Muertos!

Will somebody PLEASE get these dudes a shrubbery?!?

The awesome NERD HQ offsite!  Lotta controversy surrounding its exit from the SDCC, but then again there's a lotta controversy surrounding the folks who used to run it now too, so I guess it evens out.  Regardless, it was a fun experience and a great opportunity for those without badges to have some fun at SDCC.

If McDonalds was honest in their advertising.

A cool activation at the Petco Park Interactive Zone!  Can't really make out the logo behind the statue, but it appears to be promoting a video game of some sort.

It's Bill Cipher!  I never watched Gravity Falls, but the young folks seemed to like it!

The Nintendo Lounge!  It was a great offsite once upon a time.

The legendary Hall H Star Wars panel!  After the panel ended, attendees were led to the Pops Site out back for a concert and fireworks show!

The Nintendo booth in Hall A.  Mario Maker was kinda the last hurrah for Wii U and led to a funny story involving my buddy Riki, who was absolutely crushing it on these insanely hard levels that a bunch of wise ass kids made.  So much so that it made news all the way over at the Convention Center!

The FX Lawn in its second year definitely didn't disappoint!

The Xbox Lounge...  We didn't know how good we had it back then!

Lego Conan celebrates the first year of Conan O'Brien doing shows at SDCC!  His shows were so much fun.  I wish TBS still aired them.

My niece Kristen hanging out with some Comic Con Corgis!

Wonder Woman meets Jedi Wolverine, the latter of which technically could happen in Disney's vast expanded universe!

I don't think that's true, but he hasn't been smiling upon them much lately.

You meet a lot of interesting people on the Trolley ride up to Downtown!

Lastly, we close the book on 2015 with a much younger me with my much younger nephew and niece!  They were 12 and 10 then and are now 23 and 21.  I can't even believe they're adults now with lives and interests of their own.  I don't know why time has to fly by so quick, but I'd love to go back to those simpler days, even if only for a little while.

And that was Comic Con 2015.  Definitely one of my best years there in terms of swag and participation!  So much great cosplay too!  The offsites were slamming and still competently ran and the world was a much kinder and more hopeful place.  Kinda bummed I'm running out of pictures from this one.  It was a good show!

Well, that's one week down, but fear not, for we got nine more to go as the CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN gets your summer kicked off right!  So be sure to come back and see what we got cooking next!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

FOXLOONS!!! THE SAFEST WAY TO TRAVEL!!!

We are back at it CRAZIES!!!  More Loony mayhem is on the way because THAT is exactly what you fine folks demand!  At least that's what I think you all want.  Frankly, I have no idea how the metrics work.  The only thing I've ever truly noticed is that my Comic Con posts seem to be the only ones that ever get any traction on social media.  Which reminds me!  We're only a few weeks away from the CRAZY WonderCon Countdown!  So stay TOONED for that!  Speaking of toons, they tend to blow up like balloons a lot, and this month is a celebration of that classic cartoon trope as we use GOOD inflation to combat BAD inflation!  So scroll down and see how this week's LOONY TOON fares!  Enjoy...

Planes?  Trains?  Automobiles?  All outmoded and outdated!  Foxloons on the other hand?  Now THAT is the way to travel!  Sure, there's not much room, but the seats are comfy and with a quick tug of the tail, you're soaring at jet speed!  When my pal Mike Hartigan's characters needed a quick ride from Australia to San Diego for a book conference at the Marriott, Bubble was more than happy to help!  Unfortunately for Bubble, He wasn't expecting Super Unicorn Princess, Squish, Squash and Chase Speedington to have ten canisters of helium at the ready!  I guess they decided to do unto him before he did unto others!  Still, the flight was enjoyable and touched down long before Bubble "Deflated" much to Chase's relief!  Not sure how they made it back though.  Perhaps Mike can "Fill" us in on that one someday?

Well, only week left to go for this first month of 2026!  But fear not!  We'll end it on a high note, as any post about inflation should!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

INFLATED EGOS AND SWELLED HEADS!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  We are already having quite the ball here at the halfway point (ALREADY?!?) of January 2026!  And of course, you can't really have a ball without inflation, for THAT is what makes a ball round and buoyant!  And speaking of round and buoyant, we got some art below that will keep the ball rolling as we continue our fight against bad inflation with funny inflation!  So tie yourself down and read on!  Enjoy...

Ego can be a dangerous thing (Something we're learning daily, sadly).  It can be even more dangerous when said ego is inflated more grossly than a Macy's parade float!  And here, Peppermint Twist from Jennifer Cuthbert's Adventure's Of Lollipop comics demonstrates why it's better to be humble about things!  Although PT, as Bubble calls her, normally is sweet natured and loyal, she can be quite greedy and pigheaded at times, especially when things are going her way!  After she and Bubble Fox were given their own talk show on Canadian TV after a magic show gone hilariously wrong, she's let the success of it all go to her head.  And her arms.  And her gut.  And especially her huge butt!  If she don't curb her attitude soon, she'll be stretched completely spherical and have her own gravitational pull!  That or get a wicked case of gas, whichever is funniest!

Another week down as we float towards February, but I assure you the next two weeks will be a gas, likely because they are full of gas!  So be sure to come back and check it all out!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CRAZY INFLATION BUSTER 2026 IS HERE!!!

Welcome to 2026 CRAZIES!!!  New year, new opportunities, SAME PROBLEMS!!!  Yep, everything is much more expensive these days, and for very obvious reasons.  I, however, vowed long ago not to be topical in my work or posts, so instead I'll point my finger to an easy scapegoat: INFLATION!!!  And the best way to combat inflation is with even MORE inflation!  The cartoony kind to be precise!  So put away your economic fears and prepare for some belly laughs as the sight of these animated bellies stretched spherical will hopefully get a chuckle or two out of you!  Enjoy...

When it comes to cartoon foxes, they don't get any loonier than the great Bubble Fox!  And I'm not just saying that because he's my primary IP!  Bubble's been stretched every which way in his now 12th year of being a bad influence on children!  Today, he's hanging out with Marty & Spud, the creations of veteran cartoonist Matt Hansel who felt that Bubble was looking a little flat, so they decided to "Lift" his spirits while also "Expanding" his horizons, not to mention his waistline!  Last year, Matt was kind enough to do a doodle of Bubble meeting Marty and Spud for a cartoon playdate, as seen below...

As you can see, Bubble decided to help them test the limits of toon buoyancy, greatly inflating their expectations!  As Matt was a good sport about things, I felt it was only fair that young Marty and his feline pal get the last laugh as Bubble clearly had the first one.  It was well-rounded fun for everyone, and best of all, nobody questioned how any of them were able to float without helium!

Well, that's one week down for January 2026!  Only 51 more to go!  And for those of you still bummed about the holidays ending, just remember: There's only 352 more days until Christmas!  And only 322 more days before we are assaulted with nonstop holiday movies and music for two months straight, so how's about we just enjoy a few months of something different while we still can?  We'll back next week with more inflatable fun, so be sure to float back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

MERRY CHRISTMAS CRAZIES!!! BOTTOMS UP!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS CRAZIES!!!  I'll keep things short today as it's Christmas Eve and we're all pretty busy.  Bubble and pals got their tacky Christmas outfits on while Mike looks like he just punched a ticket for a lifetime on the Naughty List!  Some kids just can't help themselves!  Still, it's a festive setting and they look like they are having the time of their lives, as they should.  Christmas is a time for fun and festivities.  I hope you all have a fun, happy and safe Christmas tomorrow.  And for my friends who just celebrated Hanukah and my friends about to celebrate Kwanzaa, may your respective holidays be happy and fulfilling too!

Well, that's a wrap on Christmas, but not on December!  We'll be back next week with a 2025 finale that will hopefully get the New Year off to a booming start!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later.  Merry Christmas!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN CRAZIES!!!

IT'S HERE!!!  HALlOWEEN IS HERE!!!  IN TWO DAYS!!!  Okay, so maybe it's a bit early, but try looking me in my eye and telling me y'all haven't already done SOME celebrating?  Yeah, that's what I thought!  Anyhoo, I'll make things quick this week as we all got fun stuff we wanna get to!  This week's art was from last year's CRAZY Halloween Party, an annual event that Jennifer Cuthbert and I host on social media as a chance to mingle and have fun with our fellow cartoonist pals!  Bubble and Pepper found the perfect costumes it seems at a renowned retailer that specializes in popular costumes that are legally distinct enough to skirt copyright issues.  That's why Bubble Fox is dressed as "Adorable Baby Spicy Dragon" and Pepper is dressed as "Flatulent Inflatable Fox!"  I'm sure everybody in the neighborhood will recognize them!

And that's a wrap on October 2025!  We'll be back next week to kick November off right and see if that wily Ol' Tom Turkey will be back for another round of Turkey Day lunacy!  In the meantime, be very careful while out trick-or-treating for those taking part.  And for any of our older revelers, please be responsible at parties.  Know your limits and if you've had too much, get a ride or sleep it off.  A lot can change fast as we've all sadly come to learn.  Until next time folks, take care, stay safe (SERIOUSLY!!!) and I'll catch y'all later!  Happy Halloween!

SEPTEMBER SAP SPECIAL!!!

Alright CRAZIES!!!  We have OFFICIALLY reached Fall!  Granted, I've already been guzzling hot cider by the gallon since Labor Day, but now I can guzzle it and feel even MORE festive about it!  With any luck, I might even put up my Halloween decorations this weekend...  If I haven't already!  But, I know why y'all are really here and I'm anxious to reveal the next CRAZY Colored Pencil Portrait too, so let's get to it!  Enjoy...

The possum, or opossum if you wanna be technical about it.  The ultimate scavenger, these scuzzy little freeloaders will stop at nothing to get their fill, and there's no possum more daring than Sap O'Possum, the rascally third member of the Ragtags Trio and without question the Curly of those Stooges!  Typically easy going, Sap's long been the daredevil of the group, often being the one on the receiving end of the Ragtags' many big failures!  And yet, despite all that, he's proven to be a resilient, resourceful and insanely impervious little bugger who just keeps coming back for more!  He's been squashed, stretched, flattened and inflated, and yet he always bounces back!  A Top 5 fan favorite for sure amongst Bubble Fox Fans, Sap's probably my personal favorite character as he's really fun to write for.  So yeah, I wanted his Colored Pencil Portrait to be really badass when the time came!  This is one that I'm very happy about.  Not perfect, but the blending was much smoother this time around, proof that I was getting better the more I worked at it.  Gray is a color that pretty much goes with anything, so when I came across a tutorial that had a really cool aura effect to it, I decided to apply it to Sap.  I think it works pretty well!

And that's a wrap on September 2025!  Hard to believe we are entering the home stretch here.  I used to say time moves too fast when you get older, but frankly these days, it can't move fast enough!  But I promise we'll kick the witching month off right with some spooky art that's sure to scare your pants off!  Well, maybe socks at least.  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

HEAVY HITTER HEADING TO FALL!!!

We are back again!  That much closer to Fall and that much farther away from Summer!  This was a fun Summer too.  Despite the ills of the world trying their best to bring me down, I'm stubborn and dumb to let it all get to me and I keep plugging on!  Had some great visits to the San Diego County Fair, had an amazing time at Comic Con and enjoyed many fun moments with my family.  Let's bring on Autumn!  And let's bring on the art!  That's (HOPEFULLY!!!) why y'all are here, right?  Enjoy...

The Raccoon.  Also known as the "Trash Panda," he is nature's ultimate opportunist.  Mooch, however, is a little more sophisticated than that.  Though he's not opposed to digging for scraps in a garbage can, he enjoys gourmet cooking much more!  If Clover's the Moe of the Ragtags Trio, Mooch is certainly the Larry of the group!  Most often the voice of reason between two wild egos, he isn't immune to mischief himself.  He's just more coy about it!  Another Favorite amongst the Bubble Fox faithful, Moocher "Mooch" Raccoon can certainly hold his own, preferring brains over brawn, despite having somewhat prodigious girth!  The background colors here were another attempt at doing iridescence, only more green.  This too was inspired by a tutorial and certainly came out much better than the last, though there was still much practice needed.  Again, a softer touch was needed for the blending, but I was at least getting closer at least!  Practice makes perfect!

Well, only one more post to go here in September!  How will it end?  If you know your Bubble Fox characters, you probably have a pretty good idea who's next, but I won't spoil it for you.  So be sure sure to come back next week and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!
