Welcome back CRAZIES!!! Hopefully you're not too partied out from the weekend, because we still got a LOT of ground to cover with Comic Con now only TWO weeks away! Just typing that gets me giddy as all get out! But, we have to keep our resolve here. After all, the post must be finished! And with that, lets charge up our portables and press our novelty shirts and head back to 2019 and celebrate a Comic Con of the recent past, because the CRAZY Comic Con Countdown is on!!!
The Keanu Brigade took over the Gaslamp!
The Dragonball Experience experience returned to the Marriott for its second year and has since developed into one of Comic Con's best and most organized offsites! No word yet on if it'll be back this year, but given its popularity and the fact that many Dragonball projects are still in the pipeline, I'd say it's a safe bet that it will.
A truly terrifying Jafar!
The good Doctor is in!
Welcome to jungle, baby... The Concrete Jungle!
The Jedi kept the Queen safe from roving Trekkies!
Whole lotta effort for nothing. Nickelodeon had already canceled this show by the time its Interactive Zone activation kicked off! Given the sparse attendance, it's not hard to see why the show didn't last.
Luckily, the rats at the Convention Center are of usual size...
It's Bat-Duck!
The Petco Park Interactive Zone shrunk back to its normal size in 2019, but the offerings were still solid, with the Gundam activation in particular standing out! But the SpongeBob activation was also a lot of fun too!
Of all the obscure things to cosplay as, Tape-Face Boy from America's Got Talent is definitely among the most random!
2019 was actually pretty nice weather-wise, but it was still hotter than the 7th Level of Hell at several points during the weekend. Despite that, Buddy the Elf and Jovie were still determined to spread some holiday cheer five months early anyway!
A still-fat-and-yet-somehow-much-skinnier version of me in front of the actual Dark Crystal! I waited over three hours to get into this booth, and it was worth every second!
And finally, me and my nephew, Dante Jr, hamming it up in front of Sharkzilla! I miss the Shark Week presence at Comic Con. Considering that it starts closing night, it was often what got us all through Con Withdrawals!
And that was Comic Con 2019! A truly amazing year that one post can't adequately cover! Believe me, there was still a Nintendo Lounge and an insanely awesome offsite that Amazon hosted across the street that I just didn't have time to cover in this one! Luckily, there are still many photos to comb through. It would also be the last con of the pre-pandemic era, but that's ancient history now. We're only focusing forward from here on out... With a few nods to the past.
Well, another week down as we get closer and closer to the big one, but fear not! We got more Comic Con fun coming next week, so be sure to come back and see what we got in store! Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!
