THE SLIMMING EFFECT!!!

Welcome to May CRAZIES!!!  Another month is upon us, and with it comes new art, never before seen outside of Twitter!  We got a lot of fun planned in the coming weeks as we get ready for summer, the San Diego County Fair, BBQ Season and, of course, COMIC CON!!!  But we're already getting ahead of ourselves here.  Let's just ease on in with some art starring a ferocious feline who clearly got his fill!  Enjoy...

Tigers.  Fierce.  Gorgeous.  Hungry.  VERY hungry!   Certainly the one above hasn't missed too many meals.  Perhaps he should try hunting for his food more often instead of hitting the buffet line at the ol' Bengal Barbecue!  Those stripes only camouflage the background, not your bad habits!   This piece was originally done for the Pinch Punch Post Art Collective on Twitter back in 2017.  One of many that used to dot the social media landscape, it too recently came to an end, bringing many sad faces to a once vibrant online art scene.  All things must pass I suppose, but it's still sad to see something that made so many happy go away.  Perhaps in a few years, when happier times return, we will see the art collectives come back.

That's all for this first week of May 2026, but fear not!  We got a stunning critter coming in next week that'll leave you green with envy!  That or nausea, I always mix those two up!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

FOXLOONS!!! THE SAFEST WAY TO TRAVEL!!!

We are back at it CRAZIES!!!  More Loony mayhem is on the way because THAT is exactly what you fine folks demand!  At least that's what I think you all want.  Frankly, I have no idea how the metrics work.  The only thing I've ever truly noticed is that my Comic Con posts seem to be the only ones that ever get any traction on social media.  Which reminds me!  We're only a few weeks away from the CRAZY WonderCon Countdown!  So stay TOONED for that!  Speaking of toons, they tend to blow up like balloons a lot, and this month is a celebration of that classic cartoon trope as we use GOOD inflation to combat BAD inflation!  So scroll down and see how this week's LOONY TOON fares!  Enjoy...

Planes?  Trains?  Automobiles?  All outmoded and outdated!  Foxloons on the other hand?  Now THAT is the way to travel!  Sure, there's not much room, but the seats are comfy and with a quick tug of the tail, you're soaring at jet speed!  When my pal Mike Hartigan's characters needed a quick ride from Australia to San Diego for a book conference at the Marriott, Bubble was more than happy to help!  Unfortunately for Bubble, He wasn't expecting Super Unicorn Princess, Squish, Squash and Chase Speedington to have ten canisters of helium at the ready!  I guess they decided to do unto him before he did unto others!  Still, the flight was enjoyable and touched down long before Bubble "Deflated" much to Chase's relief!  Not sure how they made it back though.  Perhaps Mike can "Fill" us in on that one someday?

Well, only week left to go for this first month of 2026!  But fear not!  We'll end it on a high note, as any post about inflation should!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CRAZY INFLATION BUSTER 2026 IS HERE!!!

Welcome to 2026 CRAZIES!!!  New year, new opportunities, SAME PROBLEMS!!!  Yep, everything is much more expensive these days, and for very obvious reasons.  I, however, vowed long ago not to be topical in my work or posts, so instead I'll point my finger to an easy scapegoat: INFLATION!!!  And the best way to combat inflation is with even MORE inflation!  The cartoony kind to be precise!  So put away your economic fears and prepare for some belly laughs as the sight of these animated bellies stretched spherical will hopefully get a chuckle or two out of you!  Enjoy...

When it comes to cartoon foxes, they don't get any loonier than the great Bubble Fox!  And I'm not just saying that because he's my primary IP!  Bubble's been stretched every which way in his now 12th year of being a bad influence on children!  Today, he's hanging out with Marty & Spud, the creations of veteran cartoonist Matt Hansel who felt that Bubble was looking a little flat, so they decided to "Lift" his spirits while also "Expanding" his horizons, not to mention his waistline!  Last year, Matt was kind enough to do a doodle of Bubble meeting Marty and Spud for a cartoon playdate, as seen below...

As you can see, Bubble decided to help them test the limits of toon buoyancy, greatly inflating their expectations!  As Matt was a good sport about things, I felt it was only fair that young Marty and his feline pal get the last laugh as Bubble clearly had the first one.  It was well-rounded fun for everyone, and best of all, nobody questioned how any of them were able to float without helium!

Well, that's one week down for January 2026!  Only 51 more to go!  And for those of you still bummed about the holidays ending, just remember: There's only 352 more days until Christmas!  And only 322 more days before we are assaulted with nonstop holiday movies and music for two months straight, so how's about we just enjoy a few months of something different while we still can?  We'll back next week with more inflatable fun, so be sure to float back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

CAT'S OUTTA THE BAG!!!

We are back!  Hopefully y'all are enjoying the change in weather as Fall inches closer!  Gotta say, I'm seeing more and more spooky things creeping up in my neighborhood.  You'd think something scary might be heading our way in roughly seven weeks?!?  That or it's just a grungy old cat!  Either way, scroll down to get a glimpse at something truly spooky!  Enjoy...

Say?!?  That ain't some grungy old cat!  It's Clover J. Cat, the cutest kitten in the Crazy Forest!  Seriously, just ask her!  At times, she can be a dainty little flower, playing with her dolls and having tea parties, but if you choose to cross her, well...  Some things are best left unsaid!  The undisputed leader of the Ragtags, Clover is easily among the most popular and beloved characters in Bubble Fox.  Her cute facade hides a bossy demeanor that has long made her the Moe to Mooch's Larry and Sap's Curly in the Ragtags trio!  The background colors here were an interesting choice as I was trying for an iridescent, pearl-like finish based of a YouTube tutorial I was watching.  Needless to say, the tutorial looked much better!  For those looking to try colored pencils it's really important to remember when blending colors, you wanna do it with either a medium or medium-to-medium firm pressure.  Slower the better, especially with larger spaces.  It's probably not lost on anybody that the colors on Clover herself are much smoother looking.  That's because I used a much softer hand and had a smaller, more controlled space to color.  Like I said last week, it's all trial and error.  You get better with each try.

Another week down as we head to the halfway point of September, but fear not!  We got even more Colored Pencil Portraits coming to keep things balanced!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

WHY "SNOW" COLD, LEOPARD?!?

We are back as another month bites the dust, but it's all good as exciting times are on the horizon, but more on that later!  Might as well jump right into things here with the final critter of winter, so I hope y'all like it!  Enjoy...

Talk about a COLD shoulder?  This Snow Leopard's got an ICY stare that's CHILLING my very veins!  I'm literally FROZEN with fear by its FROSTY personality!  If these snow puns aren't doing it for you, I got plenty more, though perhaps my energy can be better spent elsewhere?  Much like the other three pieces this month, this was the product of the always fun Animal Alphabets on Twitter.  I won't lie, I took a very simple approach with this one, and yet, I really think it works.  Could just be me, but I was happy with the outcome, and lotta people on Twitter seemed to agree at the time.

And that's a wrap on February 2024, but March is promising to be a VERY fun month as the CRAZY WonderCon Countdown returns next week!  That's right folks!  Six weeks of past, present and even some future WonderCon coverage is seven days away and I am so excited to finally be sharing some of these pics with you fine folks!  So be sure to come back as the festivities begin!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE GHOSTLY BOUNCE HOUSE!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  Only a week left to go in this first month of 2024!  I'm pretty excited about what's coming up, but we still gotta finish up what's left, and with two posts to go, I see no reason to waste any time, so let's see what the cat, or in this case, CATS, dragged in!  Enjoy...

Oh my!  Don't those wild cats know that if you inflate a ghost, it'll fart out harmful styrofoam packing peanuts?!?  Think of the environmental impact!!!  This effort was a piece of fan art for two of my favorite creators, Chesca and J. Hause, the masterminds behind the hilarious Litterbox Comics and Grisley Comic!  Irreverent, dark, outrageous and always silly, their work is both inspiring and uplifting and I just couldn't help putting this CRAZY family of cats in a CRAZY situation mashing up both of their hilarious comics!  It's easy to assume that ghosts can't inflate, but I'd imagine it'd be closer to parachute rules more that balloon rules.  Air can be trapped, but not fully contained.  These are the kind of things that animators and cartoonists have to comprehend while coming up with gags for our stories!

Well, only one post left to go in our annual January Blow Up!  How will it end?  Royally!  Don't believe me?  Come back next week and see for yourself!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

A STORM IS BREWIN'... AN INKTOBER STORM!!!

Welcome to June CRAZIES!!!  Hope springs eternal here at the CRAZYVERSE, and for good reason: Things are steadily improving!  I am fully vaccinated and even got to go to to Knott's Berry Farm recently and hot damn did it feel good!  The rides, the food, the atmosphere...  It was all great!  And best of all, rules were being followed!  I'm cautiously optimistic that things will be relatively normal again by year's end.  Hell, even Long Beach Comic Con is scheduled for September!  It ain't SDCC, but I'll take it!

Speaking of SDCC, you've probably noticed no Comic Con photo starting the blog off today.  As mentioned last week, there will be no Comic Con again this summer.  Although things are rapidly improving here in California, back in March, there was still no telling what direction things would go in once vaccines really took effect.  In hindsight, maybe they should've been more patient.  At the same time, things could've just as easily gone downhill again.  Safety's gotta take top priority in the end, so it was the right call to make on cancelling it again this summer.  But, they are planning a show in San Diego for November and WonderCon is scheduled for early April!  We will get there again folks, I know it!  But for now, we just gotta be patient for a little while longer.  In the meant time, I got some art to show!  I know, it's not con pics, but they are of comic characters at least!  Enjoy...

This is Storm.  He's a cat, and a particularly mischievous cat at that!  This kitty happens to be Eline Wagemaker's cat that she features regularly in her comics and art!  Eline's a dear friend from the Netherlands and a fantastic artist who loves cats and snails, so it wasn't hard for us to become fast friends.  She's been taking a break from social media lately, a painfully long break to be honest.  But hopefully Eline will be back soon with plenty of new art and comics featuring Storm and Snarty!  In 2016, I took part in Inktober for the first time and decided to do fan art for the whole month.  For those not in the know, Inktober takes place in October and the basic premise is to draw something everyday.  Themes are available, but I always try to do my own thing.  There are other drawing collectives that month too, but Inktober's easier on hashtags.

That's all for this first week of June!  We'll be back in seven days with some more pen and ink fun from the world of CRAZY!!!  In the meantime, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

DON'T TOUCH HER RIBBON!!!

We are back and halfway through August.  Not a very typical summer in any respect, but we are still here and as such, I still got some art to post.  If kittens with attitude are your cup of tea, then boy are you in luck today!  Why?  Scroll down and see!  Enjoy...

Uh oh.  When a cat twitches its tail like that, that's usually a sign that it is time to move on!  Attack kitties can be quite dangerous when provoked and will often go right after your big toe!  It certainly does pay to keep some pouncy treats and catnip on hand for just such an occasion.  Today was another entry from the Twitter art collective PinchPunchPost.  The theme was a cat, and having been around them most of my life, inspiration didn't take long to strike with this one.  Cats are some of the goofiest critters around and it's not hard to see why so many cartoonists use them.  They are living cartoon characters!

Well, one more week to go and then August 2020 will be in the books.  Come back next week and see how it all wraps up before fall!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

MIKE AND MINDY: "LOONY" GUESTS OF ANTHONY MOORIN!!!

Back again to wrap up Week 1 of Mike & Mindy's 10th Anniversary!  And since we wanted to end things on a high note, I thought we'd introduce a new element into the fold: A cat!  Or, more specifically, Cat, the star of the hilarious comic Weird Bean by the weirdest bean of them all, Anthony Moorin!  How will this cantankerous kitty deal with the Buoyant Brats?  Scroll down and find out!  Enjoy...

Uh oh!  You definitely can't let your guard down when Mike and Mindy have access to their favorite natural element: Helium!  Mike and Mindy themselves partook in balloony madness many times, but every so often, they like to share with others!  Cat's often pretty harsh on his pals, like the innocent Kitten or the ever-so-gullible Dog, not to mention countless others that have suffered by his padded paw!  Yeah, Cat definitely had this coming, and Anthony Moorin's a great sport for letting M&M have some fun with his creations, which is one of the funniest comics on the web today.  I always enjoy his art and characters and always look forward to seeing what new mayhem his "Pets" have in store every Monday!  Thanks again Bean of Weird!  And tell Cat that at least his squeaky farts will be somewhat amusing as he deflates!

And that's all for Week 1!  We'll be back on Monday with more guest comic hijinks, so be sure to come back for a very STRONG showing!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HOLY FRITTATA!!! IT'S A NEKOMATA!!!

Welcome back followers of the House of CRAZY!!!  HALLOWEEN IS NEXT WEEK!!!  WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  Sorry, gotta compose myself here.  But how can I not be excited?  I love Halloween!  I love the fall season!  And so many wonderful things are now on the horizon!  It's hard not to go nuts!  But, I have a job to do.  Well, not really.  I don't get paid for any of this but it does keep me grounded, so I'll count it as work!  Anyway, enough yammering, it's art time!  Enjoy...

The Nekomata.  A creature of Japanese folklore, its roots can actually be traced back as far back as ancient China even.  There are several variations on its origins and nature, but almost all seem to agree that they are cats capable of producing fire and have two tails.  That was more than enough for me to run with it when Animal Alphabets made this one of their creatures for their mythical themes!  This piece is another one I'm fairly proud of color-wise.  I know my style is far from amazing, but I do feel I've always had a skill at matching colors.  It's probably the part of cartooning I enjoy the most.

Another week down CRAZIES!  We'll be back next time with a revealing look at some old pals who've come back to help us send October off on a high note.  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

A MIGHTY WIND IS BLOWIN'...

And we're back!  It's time to jump back into the CRAZY world of art as we continue this look at random sketches I drew a few years ago and have only just now gotten to polishing and posting, hence the reason all of these are signed 2015.  So with that, let's sit back and dive in!  Enjoy...

The Lion.  The King of the Beasts.  The most regal of the big cats.  A lion's roar strikes fear into any and all that hear it.  Their farts have been known to scare away crowds too!  Don't recall what I was thinking when I came up with this idea, but I do believe Pinch Punch Post, who originated the lion theme, had given it such a royal hype job that I knew I had to knock the King of the Jungle down a few pegs!  Regardless, this got some big laughs on Twitter and I'm happy it's finally getting the blog treatment this week!

And that's all she wrote for this week.  We'll be back next time with some chilly art for a chilly month!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

BUBBLE FOX IS IN THE HOUSE!!!

Would you look at that?  We survived September!  It wasn't so bad, was it?  I mean, Fall's here, the weather's cooling down and the haunting season is finally upon us!  But not just yet.  We gotta get through this week first.  Then, and ONLY then, can we get into the Halloween Spirit.  So I guess we better get to the art so we can continue!  Enjoy...

Balloons!  We started the month with some birthday balloons and we're ending the month with some birthday balloons!  Talk about literally completing the circle!  As stated several weeks ago, I've made many dear friends on Twitter, and one of my dearest is Anna Tomlinson, whose Twitter persona is "Anna the Bookworm" due to her great love of literature.  She's such a dear sweet pal in fact that she sends me a copy of the Beano Annual every year for Christmas because she heard we don't get British humor magazines out here and knew that I'd get a kick out of it!  She and her kids are all big fans of Bubble Fox, with Sap, Mooch and Clover (The Ragtags) being particular favorites of theirs.  When she mentioned it was her son Xander's birthday, I thought I'd surprise him with a birthday wish from all of his favorites!  The art got big laughs from mum and the kids and it was particularly fun to draw because I rarely get to do BF color art.  Thanks again Anna and Xander.  Hope y'all still find this funny three years later!

And that's a wrap on September 2018!  Hope y'all enjoyed the art.  We'll be kicking off October in grand fashion with a look back at Long Beach Comic Con 2018!  After all, what better way to get into the Halloween spirit than with a look at some cool costumes?  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all in October!

GIVE HIM SOME STRING!!!

And we're back!  Hopefully y'all are having a nice week as Saturday rapidly approaches.  If not, well, maybe this CRAZY cat will help make your hump day a little more tolerable.  Whatever the case may be, enjoy...

Never come between a cat and its string.  The results could be lethal!  I honestly can't recall who came up with the theme, but I believe it was a Daily Doodles entry.  Cats are naturally cartoony, so it's always a pleasure to draw one when the opportunity presents itself.  Especially calico cats!  Don't know why, but they're just so darn cool!

And that's all for today!  Come back next week for some duck art that will hopefully "Quack" you up!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

YEEEEEEHAAAAAAAW!!!

Howdy partner!  It's the last post of May 2016!  So saddle up and grab yer hat, 'cuz it's gonna be a wild ride!  Oh, and don't wear red if you can help it!  Enjoy…

That mouse may wanna run!  As so often happens, I didn't have time to draw all the themes that Daily Doodle put out one week, so I combined a couple into one piece, and this one worked out pretty good! The themes in question were a Matador Mouse and a Cowboy Cat.  This feline may well use up all nine of his lives if he ain't careful!

And so ends the merry month of May in the year 2016!  I hope y'all had a good time this month and are ready for some awesome summer fun!  I know I am and look forward to bringing you some more laughs come June!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CAT'S OUT OF THE.. BOX?!

Hey hey!  We are back and I hope you're in need of some cat art!  I mean, if you aren't, you're still welcome to look at it, but the feeling might not be the same.  Either way, enjoy…

Cat's are cartoon naturals, they just are.  Whether it's due to their often pompous appearance, their enjoyment of such simple things as cabinets and string or their amazing ability to go boneless pretty much whenever, there's a reason so many cartoonists pick cats to be the stars of there comics and cartoons.  There's just a ton of material to work with!  I don't recall the exact theme of this piece, but it came from the Daily Doodle and I didn't have to look far for inspiration.  My cat Sparky is a sweet kitty, but pretty territorial. He's laid claim to ALL the furniture in my house and let's my dog know in a very physical manner that she is not welcome on his couch!  He's the King of the castle for sure!

Well, that's all for this week.  We'll be "Flinging" some new art your way next time, so no "Monkeying" around!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

ALICE AND THE MAGIC MUSHROOMS!!!

And we're done!  February 2016 is in the books!  Boy this year's off to a fast start!  Aren't they always though once you hit adulthood?  But enough about that.  There's artwork to be seen!  So sit back and enjoy…

Careful Alice.  I don't think those are truffles!  This theme came from the Daily Doodle and may well be several rolled into one.  Can't remember if it was a whole Wonderland week or just a day.  Felt weird making this kinda joke, but everyone seemed to like it.  Let's face it.  Lewis Carroll's work is pretty damn suggestive when you really look at it!  It's OK to be a little risqué from time to time.  Just don't make it a habit.  And that is my advice for today!

And so ends another month.  We'll be back to kick off March with some more CRAZY fun next week, so be sure to come back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

SOMETHING FUZZY THIS WAY COMES!!!

Welcome to June CRAZIES!!!  Can't believe Summer's here already!  It's gonna be pretty insane this year!  Between Comic Con, the San Diego County Fair and Disneyland's 60th Anniversary, I'm not sure how to contain all the excitement I got!  The easiest way, I suppose, is to simply focus on the art I'm posting.  So enjoy...

This theme from the Daily Doodle was one of my personal favorites from last year.  Cat's are such naturally goofy critters.  There are times I think my cat actually believes he's human, so inspiration wasn't too hard to find for this one.  Had a lot of great feedback on it on Twitter too.  Guess we can all relate a little to feline curiosities.

For anyone heading to the San Diego County Fair this year, you'll find a very familiar collection in the Home and Hobby building: MY COLLECTION OF LUCHADORE MASKS!!!  After years of being too timid, I finally entered one of my collections in the fair!  I'm pretty excited about and am looking forward to showing them all off!  I don't have too many details just yet, but the Fair begins on Friday, June 5th (Just two days away!) and runs through July 5th!  Stay tuned to my Twitter feed for updates and pics of my exhibit as well as updates on when I'll actually be at the fair for those who wanna come say hi!  It'll be fun for all!

Well, that's all for this week.  We'll be back next time with some hair-raising art that's sure to make y'all laugh "Madly."  Until, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
