HE SHOULD BE DANCING, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!!!

Well, we've come to end of it all. The final post ever...  For May 2025!  What?  You thought I was ending the blog?  Come on now!  I pull this every month just about!  Y'all should see it coming by now!  Besides, I wouldn't close up shop with my biggest views season is about to start, but more on that later!  Today, it's all about the art and the music, so let's get to it, what d'ya say?  Enjoy...

Whoa!  That's one groovy cat!  Wait a tic, that ain't no cat!  It's a Bear!  A Disco Bear!  That's right, ain't no trouble "Bruin" when he's out on the dance floor!  When he ain't busy stealing picnic baskets, raiding trash cans or chasing Chet Ripley through the woods, he's strutting his stuff out at the club, looking for some honey far sweeter than any bee could make!  This ursine is out of sight!  Dance was the theme Animal Alphabets chose for Letter D, and right away, I knew I wanted to go with a disco theme.  The animal selection was a bit trickier as I didn't wanna just go with a duck as that's everybody's go-to thanks to that stupid song!  I don't exactly know why this happened, but a vision of a bear in a leisure suit just popped into my head and I started laughing hysterically at it, so I ran with it!  Lotta folks seemed to agree as it was a fairly popular post at the Bird Site and the Blue Place.  As we end this month with the penultimate edition of Animal Alphabets, we now know that Themes A, B, C and D along with Letters W, R, D and B have all been claimed!  The rest will all be revealed eventually.

That's a wrap on the month of May, and although Animal Alphabets has ended, there are easily HUNDREDS of pieces I've done for them over the past decade that haven't been posted yet, so stay TOONED in the coming years as I will get to them all at some point.  In the meantime, brace yourselves CRAZIES because next week, things get real as it's the return of everybody's favorite time of year!  That's right y'all, starting next week, the CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN returns!  So start slamming those Code Red Mountain Dews and polishing up your Cosplay armor because this year's Countdown will be bumpin'!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

HEY THERE!!! IT'S AN ASIATIC BEAR!!!

Welcome to the merry month of May CRAZIES!!!  Summer's just around the corner and I'm already getting excited over the coming festivities!  The Fair!  4th of July!  And, of course... COMIC CON!!!  Alright, alright, I gotta calm down and get ahold of myself here.  I'm still recuperating after all!  For those no longer on Twitter, I blew out my (again) at work last month.  Luckily, it won't require surgery but I do need a lot of rest so that my knee will heal properly.  Should be back on both feet by the end of May, just in time for some BBQ!  While I wait to fully recover, may as well share some art with you fine folks!  Enjoy...

It's a bear!  An Asiatic Black Bear to be precise!  And no, that's not honey on his chest and muzzle.  Bears in Asia, like our friend up above and his cousin the sun bear, typically have black or dark brown fur with striking light tan fur patches on their chests and muzzles!  Also contrary to popular belief, when bears are raiding bee nests, they're actually going after the bees themselves!  Bears do in fact have a sweet tooth, but they are also carnivores.  The bees, nest and honey included, are far more filling than just the sweet, viscous liquid we pour on biscuits!  This piece was done for Animal Alphabets awhile back.  Took a pretty simple approach with it which tells me I must've been very busy that week.  The honest truth is if the art ain't elaborate, it's because I was pressed for time!  Still, I'm pretty satisfied with it as bears are fun to draw!

And that's it for this week!  But don't feel blue!  We'll be back next Wednesday with some art that I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time looking at! Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

BAFFLINGLY BUBBLED BY BUBBLE'S BUBBLY BOBA!!!

We are back!  Not that we were ever truly gone, but not a whole lot happens on this blog in between posts, which isn't to say nothing happens at all.  It's just that not everything's interesting enough to post!  You know what is though?  FAN ART!!!  Especially helium-filled fan art!  So lets float on in to see what's gonna be combatting inflation in this week's CRAZY Inflation Buster Special, shall we?  Enjoy...

Lesson one folks: NEVER let Bubble Fox make the drinks!  It almost always goes awry!  This piece was done to celebrate the first anniversary of my pal Dave Brown's web comic, Planet Joey, the tale of a Canadian boy named Joey who's forced to move to literally the middle of nowhere and start afresh with his family, which also includes a very suave, sophisticated, talking bear named Herb.  Dave had done a guest comic for Bubble Fox where Joey spikes Herb's coffee with helium, causing him to bloat and float along with Bubble Fox himself!  In this fan art, I decided the little squirt needed a little payback, so Bubble gave both of them some "Bubble Tea," though it was actually unintentional!  I had a lot of fun with this piece, but had to replace the colors on Joey's shirt digitally as the marker I used originally just wouldn't blend.  Pro Tip Kids:  Don't use Sharpies for colors.  They're okay in a pinch, especially if its a really small area to color, but for larger spaces, they just get streaky and it's obvious.  If you're using markers, PrismaColors and Copics are the way to go.

And that's all for today, but we'll be back next time for a game of make believe that really expands upon the concept of hide and seek!  It'll blow your mind, so be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

BEWARE THE BALD-HEADED BEAR, PJ DAY!!!

We are back!  The days are getting longer and the weather's getting warmer.  It's the time of year mammals begin to shed some excess fur.  It's also the time of year that bears start coming out of their winter slumbers.  Some bears are more dangerous than others, as the late great John Candy found out in the classic comedy, The Great Outdoors.  The Bald-Headed Bear was real doozy, though it was also the bare-butt bear by the end of the flick.  Now, what exactly does this have to do with today's post you might be asking?  A lot actually.  Last week, I mentioned that I had launched a morale booster last year called the Spread Some Laughs campaign where I drew fan art each week for pals and inspiring artists.  Part of the campaign also involved working the characters into 80's movies!  Some were easier than others, but there were a few characters that fit certain movies like a glove, and none more so than today's subject!  Who is it?  Scroll down and see!  Enjoy...

Who turns a shotgun into a lamp?  Honestly now, you're asking for trouble!  This week's honors go to Carl the Snake and Duffy the Bear from PJ Day's Hilarious webcomic, Flatt Bear, the tale of an extremely dumb bear named Duffy and the insane amount of trouble his bumbling nature causes his friends and loved ones.  Carl tends to be on the receiving end of Duffy's constant shenanigans, so casting him in the Chet Ripley role was a nice change of pace for the poor, beleaguered serpent.  Oddly enough, this isn't the first time in Duffy's career that he's had a shorn backside, but you'll have to dig that up yourselves!  PJ Day is one of my closest pals in comics and has done numerous guest spots for me over the years.  It's always a pleasure to give his wonderful toons the CRAZY treatment!  Now quit slacking and give Amelia the Kidloon Day treatment PJ!  We're still waiting!

That's all for now.  We're already at the halfway point for April!  Time flies, eh?  Well, that's just the way things go, but be sure to come back next week for some more 80's crossover fan art that's blazing a new trail!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

POLAR PERIL!!!

It's Hump Week on Hump Day yo!  So bust out some Humpty D and do the Humpty Dance as we celebrate all things... Polar Bear!  What?  Where'd ya think I was going with all that "Hump" alluding?  Anyway, I gots some arts for y'all!  Enjoy...

The polar bear.  Big, powerful and sadly endangered, but that's a completely different discussion.  Today, we see this Polar Bear in his natural element: Ice Fishing!  Somehow I always thought they were a bit more primal when it came to hunting prey.  This was another Pinch Punch Post theme that I had a lot of fun with and may actually be their debut theme.  Despite going off of sketch book order, it's always possible I missed a page or two while working!  I'll say this much, it was one of my easiest color jobs ever!

And that's that... For this week!  But never fear!  We'll be back next time with more animal fun!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THE BEAR BLASTS OFF!!!

And we're back!  Got a couple of things to show you today!  So let's skip the banter and move right on to the art, shall we?  Enjoy...

Uh oh!  A creature that big loaded with insanely gassy foods that close to a lit flame can be downright dangerous!  This was another Daily Doodle theme and it simply said draw a bear and a duck.  Once again, I'm not sure what my thought pattern was with this one, but it got some pretty big laughs and led to these two eventually appearing in a Bubble Fox storyline as Dr. Duck Daring and Trouble B. Bruin!  The story was a hit and I owe it all to this insanely wild piece!

And now for the special surprise!  It's been a while since we celebrated it here, but February does mark the anniversary of the launch of the CRAZYVERSE, which began in 2014 with nothing more than a couple of monthly comics and a whim.  Fast forward eight years later, it now spans five comic series, three websites, a Twitter page, four books (With a fifth coming) and a clothing line!  Even I never thought I'd spread my ambitions that far!  It truly has been loads of fun doing this all these years and what a pleasant surprise it was when my dear pal, Kim Belding, sent me this comic to celebrate Mike & Mindy's anniversary!  Nobody gets my characters the way Kim does, so it's always a thrill to get a toon from him!  Enjoy...

Mike and Mindy always had an interesting love/hate relationship with each other, but I'm very curious to see how things work out between the sink and the squirting flowers!  Only a mind as wild as Kim's could've come up with something this hilarious!  Someday I might just sell M&M to him.  Who else could make it work this great?  Thanks again Kim for the comic and for remembering my kids!

That's all for now.  We'll back next time with a very stylish reptile who knows his scarves!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

BIG BLOATED BUNNY BALLOONS BY BEAR!!!

Sheesh!  Try saying the title of today's post five times fast!  We are now more than halfway past September 2017!  So much time passes so quickly these days.  I keep thinking there's a big box somewhere that all the lost time falls into, but alas, I've yet to find it.  But at least we got art to keep us entertained until that box of lost time is found, right?  Anyhoo, enough chit chat, here's some art!  Enjoy...

Poor little bunny.  Well, he's actually a fairly big bunny now, but still, he just seems so startled by it all!  It's not his fault he makes such an adorable balloon!  This theme came from the Daily Doodle who put out the idea of a bear and bunny.  I figured there just wasn't enough alliteration with a bear and bunny, so I tossed a balloon in as well!  But then I thought to myself, "Why stop there?  Why not make the bunny a balloon?"  Next thing I know, a simple drawing becomes a one-panel gag cartoon!  See?  These things practically write themselves sometimes!

And that's wrap for today!  We'll be switching gears next week and close out September with a look back at my recent trip to Long Beach Comic Con.  So recent in fact that as of this writing, it hasn't actually happened yet!  I think I might be qualified to be a Timelord at this point!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

IT'S A BEAR, MAN!!!

May's just plowing along isn't it?  We're halfway there and ever so closer to summer!  Then again, summer's kinda pointless when you don't go to school anymore and have a job with flexible hours.  Oh well, guess I'll have to fill up my spare time with some art!  Enjoy…

That beaver's in for a world of hurt!  This may have been a combination of two Daily Doodle themes when the day job prevented me from doing two separate pieces.  The Ballerina Bear is the only one I can clearly remember to be honest.  Still, I had a lot of fun drawing this one and know the eventual end result will be comedy gold!

Alright folks, we got one more to go this month!  So be sure to come back and see what's kicking next week!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
