BEWARE THE BALD-HEADED BEAR, PJ DAY!!!

We are back!  The days are getting longer and the weather's getting warmer.  It's the time of year mammals begin to shed some excess fur.  It's also the time of year that bears start coming out of their winter slumbers.  Some bears are more dangerous than others, as the late great John Candy found out in the classic comedy, The Great Outdoors.  The Bald-Headed Bear was real doozy, though it was also the bare-butt bear by the end of the flick.  Now, what exactly does this have to do with today's post you might be asking?  A lot actually.  Last week, I mentioned that I had launched a morale booster last year called the Spread Some Laughs campaign where I drew fan art each week for pals and inspiring artists.  Part of the campaign also involved working the characters into 80's movies!  Some were easier than others, but there were a few characters that fit certain movies like a glove, and none more so than today's subject!  Who is it?  Scroll down and see!  Enjoy...

Who turns a shotgun into a lamp?  Honestly now, you're asking for trouble!  This week's honors go to Carl the Snake and Duffy the Bear from PJ Day's Hilarious webcomic, Flatt Bear, the tale of an extremely dumb bear named Duffy and the insane amount of trouble his bumbling nature causes his friends and loved ones.  Carl tends to be on the receiving end of Duffy's constant shenanigans, so casting him in the Chet Ripley role was a nice change of pace for the poor, beleaguered serpent.  Oddly enough, this isn't the first time in Duffy's career that he's had a shorn backside, but you'll have to dig that up yourselves!  PJ Day is one of my closest pals in comics and has done numerous guest spots for me over the years.  It's always a pleasure to give his wonderful toons the CRAZY treatment!  Now quit slacking and give Amelia the Kidloon Day treatment PJ!  We're still waiting!

That's all for now.  We're already at the halfway point for April!  Time flies, eh?  Well, that's just the way things go, but be sure to come back next week for some more 80's crossover fan art that's blazing a new trail!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

DON'T BE TOO TRUSTING!!!

We are back!  The world's still turning somehow and we are all eager to get back on track.  But, we still got a little ways to go, so why not enjoy some more fairytale-themed art while we patiently bide our time? Enjoy...

With eyes like that, how can we not trust him?  I mean, not all snakes are evil ya know?  We continue our trek down the Animal Alphabets fairytale path, landing on the letter K and Kaa the snake from The Jungle Book.  Not exactly a fairytale, but it is a work of classic literature and later inspired one of Disney's best animated features, as well as two under appreciated live action adaptations from the Mouse House.  In the cartoon, Kaa is an inept villain mostly played for laughs.  In the book, he's a much more serious character whose sinister nature leaves you guessing.  For the art, I decided to take the cartoon's approach as more people are familiar with it.  This one was fun to draw.  Kept it simple and took up more of the page than I usually do.  Also happy with the depth of the piece.  It's obvious how vast he is.

Well, that's all I got for now.  But if you come back next week, I promise to have some more fun art ready and we might even get a treat from granny!  So be sure to come back and give it a look!  Until next time, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

RAINBOW ROAD TO THE RAINBOW SERPENT!!!

Welcome to July CRAZIES!!!  Hopefully, you all are staying safe and healthy and seeing some kind of improvement in your towns.  Obviously, things are gonna be quite different this weekend, compared to past 4th of July celebrations, but I'm confident we'll all find a way to have some kind of fun.  We may not have fireworks right now (well, legal ones at least), but I still got some loud, explosive colors for you, so scroll down and take a gander at some analog color by way of digital distribution!  Enjoy...

TheRainbow Serpent!  More than just a brightly colored snake, this colorful reptile is a deity in Australian Aboriginal cultures.  Believed to be a bringer of life, it's been said that when rainbows appear, it's the serpent himself leaving one watering hole for the next.  Being a lover of all things reptilian, it didn't take much coaxing to get me to draw this one when Animal Alphabets picked this subject.  Not much of a gag, but I was okay with it.  It got a great response on Twitter and now, dear CRAZIES, the polished version is here for all to enjoy!

That's a wrap for today.  Be sure to come back next week for more silly shenanigans from the House of CRAZY!  Also, DO be careful this weekend.  Even without a pandemic, the 4th of July has a bad habit of leading to serious injury due to some people having a little too much fun.  Fireworks are illegal in many states for good reason, so please use caution, especially when alcohol is involved! Until then, take care, stay safe and happy 4th of July!  Catch y'all later!

A BASILISK!!! TIME TO BAIL!!!

Here we are again!  At the midway point of February already!  Well, I can't really chalk this one up to any kind of weird speed up in time.  It's a short month.  The middle comes quicker in February!  But hey, you're not here to debate quantum physics.  You wanna see another mythical beast!  At least I hope you do.  It's okay to lie and say you do even if you stumbled on here accidentally while looking up cat vids, I'll totally be cool with it!  Anyway, here's the next beastie!  Enjoy...

The dreaded Basilisk!  A terrifying snake-like creature with a poisonous bite and deadly stare!  In some mythologies,  the Basilisk has short legs while others depict it as a straight snake.  The stare also has differences among the myths as some claim its stare can turn a victim to stone, much like a Gorgon, while others claim it merely paralyses a victim.  Either way, I think we can all be thankful this critter doesn't currently exist.  People have a hard enough time leaving regular snakes be, let alone giant ones that can kill you by merely making eye contact!

And that's all for this particular week!  Be sure to come back next time to see a figurative horse of another color!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

WONDERS OF THE WEB: CARL GETS CRAZY!!!

Hello fellow CRAZIES!!!  Yeah, I know, no more con pics.  But Hey!  The art has returned!  That's pretty cool, right?  Oh come on!  After more than two months, y'all had to be sick of the past Comic Con pics, right?  Well, I only have so many, so back to the art we go!

A couple Octobers ago, I took part in my first Inktober event.  For those who aren't on Twitter or Instagram, Inktober takes place every October and has a pretty simple premise: Draw an inked piece of art everyday!  It's not always easy for me, as October tends to be my busiest month work-wise, but I managed to pull a couple of rabbits out of my hat these last two years.  For my 2016 debut, I chose to spotlight some of my pals in the Web Comic realm!  Since I try to do themes from time to time, I figured why not make August Web Comic month?  So here we go!  Enjoy...

First up is the sarcastic serpent who's usually on the receiving end of his blundering bruin pal's shenanigans.  That's right, it's Carl the Snake from PJ Day's hilarious comic, Flatt Bear!  Carl is more often than not the voice of reason among his wacky stable of friends, and usually suffers heavy consequences for it.  But he always bounces back and sticks by his pals no matter what.  He's a true friend through and through.

And that's all she wrote for today.  It's nice to be back to these smaller, simpler posts.  As much as I enjoy the con pics, it's a lot of work sorting, posting and captioning them.  This took maybe 20 minutes, if even that!  Anyway, we take our Web Comic party up north next week for some wacky fun with a wacky Canadian, so be sure to come on back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

SLITHERING FASHIONS!!!

Wow!  Halfway through February already?  Wild how fast time flies, especially through the only month that can be perfectly divided up into four weeks!  But enough math.  You didn't come here to learn.  You came for some art and I plan to deliver!  Enjoy...

This snake has really coiled around his fashion beliefs!  This was another of the Daily Doodle's alliteration themes, this time featuring a Scarfed Snake.  Of course, I had to make it a little more fun than that, so I put an ascot on him instead!  It's kind of a scarf, isn't it?  Depending on the snake, I doubt any would really care or notice if you put a scarf on them.  Aside from the venomous ones, most snakes are fairly sedate and would probably just slither out of it!

And that's all for today.  We'll be back next time to close out February with some inspired wackiness!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

2015 IS OVER?! THAT'S A TOUGH PILL TO SWALLOW!!!

And so we've come to it at last.  The end of 2015.  This year was not a particularly good one for me personally.  Many things happened along the way that I'd just as soon forget ever happened.  Of course, it's not without some successes, few as they may be.  I finally did well at WonderCon, launched a new comic and made many new friends.  It's the positives I'll be focussing on when I look back at this year and hope to build on that while making 2016 the best year I possibly can.  Anyway, that's enough rambling.  Christmas is over, New Year's is on the way and you all wanna see which art I'll be closing out the year with, so here it is!  Enjoy…

This is why you don't tap the glass kids.  Snakes really don't like that!  This theme was another Daily Doodle piece although the exact theme again escapes me.  You may be wondering why I do more Daily Doodle entries than Sketch Dailies.  I honestly don't prefer one over the other.  They are both great and I enjoy taking part in as many as I can.  SD does tend to attract a more mature audience as opposed to DD which typically holds on to a more all-ages approach, which suits me better.  With that being said, both have resulted in many incredible pieces of art being created and it's worth getting a Twitter account just to see what Sketch Dailies and Daily Doodle will come up with next!

And that does it for 2015.  I know I said the past year wasn't too good for me personally, but creatively speaking, I loved doing all these color pieces for the CRAZY fans!  I know Mike And Mindy ending was a bit of a blow, to me anyway, but I'm really happy with the direction my other comics are going in and these blog cartoons have been a blast!  I can't wait to polish up even more of them in the coming year!  Anyway, have a fun, safe and Happy 2016!  Take care, and I'll see y'all next year!
