HAPPY EASTER CRAZIES!!!

Happy Easter my CRAZIES!!!  Gonna keep things short this week.  It's spring break, we got some holidays this weekend and rascally rabbits are all over the place!  So let's get going!  Longtime CRAZIES know that I am a sucker for Reese's Cups and pretty much anything crossing chocolate and peanut butter.  I can't explain why this combination is so magical, but dammit, it works!  So when Jennifer Cuthbert and I hosted the CRAZY Easter Egg Hunt a couple years ago, I knew exactly where I wanted to go with it.  Apparently Bubble Fox did too!  Poor Pepper and Charlie.  If it's any consolation boys,  Bubble went through five gallons of prune juice trying to pass that sucker!

PARALOONING!!! CATCH THE BREEZE!!!

Back for more are we?  Well then, you've certainly come to the right place as we got MORE of EVERYTHING this month as we continue our Battle Against Inflation, which in and of itself is all about more to begin with!  Well then, now that I've grossly inflated this paragraph, let's say we float down and see what artistic masterpiece (HA!!!) is in store for us today, shall we?  Enjoy...

Bubble and his pals sure know how to have fun.  Why parasail when you can para-loon?!?  Willow may not get it, but Pepper and Charlie sure do!  They stayed puffed for hours, enjoying fun in the sun and even taking a bounce or two among the waves!  I think that shark and octopus might be a little jealous that they didn't get to have a few turns themselves!  Eventually, all that helium came to pass, leading to Pepper and Charlie having the squeakiest farting contest ever!  This piece is from another art collective that Jennifer Cuthbert and I hosted on Twitter last summer called the #CRAZYSummerBlowup!  In it, artists are challenged to draw their characters either inflated into beach/pool toys or just having some summer fun in general!  This piece was a lot of fun to draw and features a very rare shot of Bubble Fox front-facing!  Can't thank Jimmy Gownley enough for showing me how its done!

MERRY CHRISTMAS CRAZIES FROM YOUR FASHIONABLE CRAZY PALS!!!

WILLOW GETS PENCILED!!!

We are back CRAZIES!!!  Some of you no doubt need a break from doing the Monster Mash right now, so why not use that time to check out some art beautifully rendered in colored pencils?  Seriously, it'll only take a few minutes and then you can get back to your Frankenstein walks and Dracula talks!  Enjoy...

Willow's up next!  Bubble's long suffering girlfriend certainly has the patience of a saint and now glows like one too!  Not many realize that neon/fluorescent colors can be used for more than just black light effects.  They really pop in their own right, and neon colored pencils especially just have a very radiant glow to them, even without UV lighting.  In hindsight I should've used a couple more shades of pink as the blending deepened, but overall I'm happy with this one.  I know I've mentioned this in past posts, but it's worth mentioning again here: It's important to use quality colored pencils when coloring with them.  You just can't get a good result with Crayola or Artist's Loft.  I use PrismaColors and am very happy with them.  Also, electric pencil sharpeners are a must with colored pencils!

GETTIN' THE BUBBEL FOX PARTY STARTED WITH DANA ATNIP!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  We've been on a bit of a fan art kick since coming back from WonderCon, so why rock the boat by changing things up?  Fan art is awesome!  Even more so when I am on the receiving end of it!  You see, this year marked the 10th Anniversary of Bubble Fox!  You know?  That webcomic I do over on ComicFury?  It's a pretty special deal for me as it's the longest continuing series I've ever drawn and I was surprised by a few pals from across the interwebs here who sent me some fan art celebrating the frenetic fun that is Bubble and pals!  Figured this month would be as good a time as any to spotlight a few of my favorite pieces of fan art, so let's jump right to it!  Enjoy...

Would ya look at that!  It's Willow, Bubble and Pepper and boy are they looking ever so adorable!  That's because they were drawn by the great Dana Atnip of Galactic Dragons fame!  Dana's a longtime friend and no stranger to the CRAZYVERSE, having done MANY guest comics over the years.  Her whimsical style and cute characters remind so much of the works of masters like Chuck Jones, Warren Kremmer and Walt Kelly.  Her takes on Bubble and pals are so amazing I often consider just selling the series to her!  She truly is one of the best out there and I'm honored to call her a friend.  Thanks again Detroit Dana.  Hopefully Pepper's dragon girth will keep him close to the ground!

SUMMER BLUBBIN'!!!

Welcome back CRAZIES!!!  We've reached the midway point of January!  We're not too far off from Pink Halloween, aka Valentines Day, but since I have no significant other, I'll just have to look forward to Mardi Gras instead.  That one's more fun anyway.  Better food, better decorations and all the beads I can carry!  Of course, as these days grow colder, one does start to pine for the warmer months that ARE on the horizon, but still a bit off.  Luckily, Bubble and pals are happy to oblige us in some Summer Lovin'!  Or in this case, Blubbin'!  We are still in a Loony mood as our salute to inflation continues with more cartoon buoyancy!  Enjoy...

Willow doesn't have it easy being Bubble's girlfriend.  She does love her foxy fella for sure, but it is quite hazardous tagging along with a walking disaster like Bubble Fox, and Willow has accidentally been on the receiving end of his shenanigans many times.  So, it was on this occasion that she decided to take a preemptive strike and render Bubble helpless before he can render her hapless!  Pepper, sadly, seemed to be caught in the crossfire of Willow just wanting a nice relaxing float at the beach!  Even the octopus seems a bit puzzled by it all!  This piece was part of the CRAZY Summer Blow Up that Jennifer Cuthbert and I hosted on Twitter last summer.  A fun event that called for artists to turn their characters into inflatables and pool floaties, it was a nice addition to the other CRAZY events we host throughout the year, and I look forward to its return in August!

WHO YA GONNA CALL?!? BUBBLE BUSTERS!!!

We are back CRAZIES!!!  Ten days into January already, can you believe it?!?  It'll be Shamrock Shake Season before we know it!  But enough about that.  Our fight against inflation continues as we work to battle the bad bloating with the good bloating, and this week we get some celebrity help!  Don't believe me?  Scroll down and see for yourself!  Enjoy...

Bubble you clod!  You don't inflate guests!  Especially guests with super powers!  Will that daffy fox ever learn?!?  The victim in question is AK Girl, the star of the popular Reynard City comics created by Rob Turner.  AK Girl is a foxy fighter who kicks quite a lot of butt but has one rather large problem: Anytime she touches caramel, she inflates!  Making matters worse, most of her enemies are aware of her affliction and always try to take advantage of it.  Luckily for AK Girl, she's as crafty as any fox, and always finds a way to win!  Helium on the other hand...  She's still working that one out!  Bubble wasn't exactly trying to be mean.  In addition to wanting to do fan art for her, he was also playing catch up with Helium Discovery Day!  They should all be thankful that at least it wasn't National Balloon Popping Day.  Things could've gotten messy with that!  AK Girl eventually deflated and made a mad dash for her life out off the Crazy Forest, vowing never to return again.  Who could blame her?!?

WOO HOO HOO HOO!!!  Christmas is here CRAZIES!!!  I won't waste any time here.  We're all excited and likely really busy with prepping for Christmas Day while also heading out for other holiday parties, festivities and such!  So let's dive right in, shall we?  Enjoy...

Hey hey!  It's Willow!  The long suffering girlfriend of Bubble Fox!  And she's singing us a lovely Christmas carol!  Why isn't Bubble with her?  Simple: He's not allowed to sing.  Court order!  That and because this was part of Illo_Advent, time was of the essence, so I likely only had time to draw one character!  Got a LOT of these drawings sitting around in old sketchbooks.  Eventually I'll get around to posting all of them!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! GO BLUE WITH SPLUE!!!

 

The Witching Hour has arrived!  Halloween is this Saturday!  While things are gonna be a bit different this time around, there's still a lotta fun to be had.  There's no rule saying we can't still carve pumpkins and eat candy!  Even Mike and Mindy came out of cartoon retirement for the occasion, giving a nod to their successors, Bubble Fox and Willow!  Looks like the wily foxes had a similar idea about their predecessors as well!  Since it's Halloween, this seems like a good week for a monster, and luckily, I happen to have one!  Time to end October with some style!  Enjoy...

It's Splue, the bear-lizard-crawdad creature!  He's a friendly monster who enjoys long walks and J-Crew clothing!  He also knows his way around a trumpet!  Splue was another MonstersGo character that I did for the Twitter collective a few years back.  I particularly enjoyed drawing this one because he's blue, and that's my favorite color.

FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES!!!

We are back and now 17% more CRAZY than last time!  that's an increase of 4%!  Anyway, the birthday art bonanza continues here this month in case you forgot.  All art appearing here was originally posted on Twitter as digital gifts for some truly wonderful friends, and today's no exception.  So sit back, maybe loosen your belts, and enjoy...

Aw Chandra.  Probably no dearer friend than her when it comes to Twitter pals.  She's long supported me and so many other artists with her kind words and quick ordering finger on Amazon.  She's a genuine pal and also makes an AMZING bread pudding too!  Just ask the Ragtags once their food coma wears off!  The real irony here is, it actually wasn't her birthday when I drew this.  One of the bigwigs at the Root Beer Party mixed up her actual birthday and went and told everybody to draw stuff for her.  She was a bit puzzled by it all but still very appreciative for the art.  Frankly, I'm happy to draw Chandra anything anytime she wants!  Her friendship is one of the best gifts I've ever received.

BUBBLE'S BIRTHDAY BELLY BUSTER!!!

*Sighs*

January is really here.  Christmas is now two weeks behind us and 50 weeks away.  Well, actually, 42 weeks away given how retailers work.  But ya know?  That's okay!  There's always something to look forward to each month!  Awards season is here and the Oscars are already looking pretty intriguing!  Shamrock Shakes aren't too far off and Con Season will also be kicking off pretty soon too!  Granted, that last one's still in a state of limbo at the moment, but where there's a will, there's a way and things just work out sometimes.  We can also look forward to some new art from all the wonderful cartoonists out there...  And me!  So let's cut right to the chase, shall we?  This month, I'm going back and posting sketches I've done for pals on Twitter as birthday gifts!  I've done many more than the four coming up, but there are only so many Wednesdays in a month!  Anyway, enjoy...

Oh, Willow.  You know perfectly well that you can't leave giant, delicious pastries out while Bubble Fox is about!  It's beyond tempting fate!  The following art was done for my dear friend Anna Tomlinson and her daughter, Hermione.  Anna and her kids are all big fans of the various CRAZY characters, so I was Happy to draw a little something for one of Bubble's biggest fans on her birthday.  Anna later told me the kids kept close guard over the cake to make sure a REAL fox didn't try to swoop in and take it!  You don't ever come between a kid and their cake!

VOLCANOS AND FOXES AND DRAGONS, OH MY!!!

Welcome to the end... Of August!  Yup, the Summer is pretty much over now, BUT, that just means the wonderful Fall season is upon us!  Halloween!  Thanksgiving!  The start of Christmas Overkill!  What's not to be happy about?  Sure, school's back in for many kids, but I graduated years ago!  Every day is kinda pointless when you don't have a set schedule!

Anyway, before we jump into today's art, I figured I'd give y'all a heads up about the start of Guest Month over at Bubble Fox.  September has more or less become the one break I take each year from cartooning as it's pretty busy for me at work and on the home front.  So to help me get a little relief, some dear pals have stepped in to take the reigns of making sure that Bubble and his pals are thoroughly inflated with enough CRAZY gas to keep them floating the whole month while I'm gone!  It'll be a fun time for all, so be sure to stop by and take a look!  Anyway, speaking of Bubble Fox, his girlfriend Willow is the star of today's post!  Enjoy...

They don't get any more fantastic than Willow!  This was a Daily Doodle post that asked for fox art.  It was also coming off the heels of a Roald Dahl-themed week that also had a Fantastic Mr. Fox day, so I thought I'd present another fox who's equally fantastic, if not more!  Bubble may be the star of the comic, but Willow is definitely one of the most popular characters in the series.  I always enjoy creating stories centered around her.  She's the lone voice of reason in a world full of wiseguys!

And that's all she wrote for August.  I guess I should also mention that my break only affects the Bubble Fox site as this blog will still have new artwork posted to it.  Why this site and not the other?  Simple.  The work for the blog's cartoons aren't as time consuming!  Anyway, we'll kickoff September right, I promise!  I'll also be walking around at the Long Beach Comic Con this weekend, so be sure to say "Hi" if you spot me!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
