HOLY SMOKES!!! A JAVA JUNKY RHINO!!!

We are back CRAZIES!!!  And already approaching the halfway point of September!  Some of you are probably already sporting sweaters at this point, but not me!  If history's any kind of an indicator, it's probably still hotter than Hell in San Diego right now.  Then again, we just had our first hurricane warning last month, so what the hell does history truly know?  (Author's Note: These posts are written well in advance of their actual posting dates.  It could very well be freezing in San Diego right now, so who knows?).  Anyway, enough of the jibber jabber as Mr. T used to say.  Some of you actually want to see some art, and I intend to deliver!  Enjoy...

Hoo boy, a tweaked out rhino?!?  Guess we should be thankful that Javan Rhinos are the smallest of the living rhino species.  They are also one of the last two wooly rhino species left in the world today, along with the larger (But still smaller compared to their African cousins) Red Sumatran Rhino.  Still, any creature of substantial size hawked up on caffeine can be pretty dangerous if you get in their way!  Another one for Animal Alphabets, this time for the Letter J!  Rhinos are among my favorite creatures, so I was eager to illustrate this one!  Hopefully recent advances in breeding sciences will help these marvelous creatures continue on into the coming centuries and fuel even more imaginations the way they have fueled mine.

Another week down with two more to go in our September 2023 marathon here!  Be sure to come back next week as we spotlight another marvelous critter!  Until next time, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

WE'RE BLOWING UP 2023... LITERALLY!!!

Welcome to 2023 my dear CRAZIES!!!  While another year has passed into the sands of time, the current one has started and is already showing plenty of promise!  Sure, January's a bit slow, but we're roughly six-weeks away from some pretty cool things happening:  Pink Halloween (aka, Valentines Day), the relaunch of the XFL (Covid's the only reason it shutdown last time.  Accept it haters!) and, most importantly, the return of Shamrock Shake Season!  And there are plenty of cool things coming after that to look forward to as well.  So let's dust off the holiday rest and set our sights the future because it's looking bright!

Looking bright?  How can I say that when inflation looms?  Well Mr. Sour-Face, let's just say I know the perfect way to combat rising inflation.  How?  Simple!  You fight inflation WITH inflation!  The comedic type!  Don't believe me?  Scroll down and I'll prove it!

See?  Aren't you laughing already?  I mean, it's not a permanent fix, but it at least made you forget about the real deal for a little bit!  Back by popular demand, we've brought back the CRAZY Inflation Buster Special, though admittedly, I don't recall if that's what I called it last year!  This piece came from a now defunct Twitter art collaboration called #DrawMoor, run by Becka Moor.  For a few months in 2021 and 2022, she'd put out a theme and we each drew our interpretation of it, quite similar to the old CRAZY Cartoon Experiments I used to host myself way back when.  This particular theme was "An Elephant, Dressed As A Clown, Making Balloon Animals."  Obviously, I was gonna take this one to comical extremes, and it got over quite well with the Twitter crowd.  Sadly, Becka left Twitter recently (one of many actually), and it looks like her #DrawMoor challenge went with her.  It was fun while it lasted though, and I look forward to sharing the other pieces I did for it in future posts!

And that's it for the first post of 2023, but fear not!  We'll be inflating our grosses a LOT over the next few weeks, so throw on some stretch pants and be prepared for some gut busting laughs!  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catch y'all later!

THE RAMBLIN' RHINO!!!

Hey CRAZIES!!!  We're back with a new month!  I'd like to say there's some good news to report, but, sadly, we're all under quarantine still.  Has some progress been made?  Some, yes, but not enough to salvage a few a few things.  Comic Con and the Del Mar/Sand Diego County Fair have been canceled, as has WonderCon, formally abandoning its postponement.  This news hurts a lot folks, but it is what it is.  Hopefully, happier days are on the way and we can all return to some form of normalcy.  I shall try my best to offer y'all some relief, or as much relief as my goofy art can muster.  Having said that, let's dive in, shall we?  Enjoy...

Here we have a Rhino!  Not just any rhino, but a southern white rhino, given its grayish color and more come-like horns.  Northern white rhinos have rather odd shaped horns that look more like rock shards while black rhinos more closely resemble their southern white cousins, only with darker skin.  All three share a bond though: They are all endangered, critically in some cases, and need our help!  With any luck, recent breeding success at the San Diego Zoo could hold the key for bringing these magnificent creatures back from the brink!  Sorry to get preachy there.  I just love rhinos and don't wanna see them vanish.  This piece was done for Pinch Punch Post quite some time ago as the signature suggests.  Where does time go exactly?

And that's all for today.  I guess I'll go ahead and get this bit of bad news out of the way now: No CRAZY COMIC CON COUNTDOWN this year.  I'm torn to put it off for a year, but it just hurts too much having lost it this year.  I went through a lot to get reverified for pro status, and now to have nothing, well, it just seems like posting pics would be like rubbing salt in the wound.  I'm trying to take the "out of sight, out of mind" approach, but so far it's not working very well.  In time, I think we'll all be able to move on.  Sorry again folks and I hope you will all come back and see what's swimming by next week.  Until then, take care, stay safe and I'll catchy y'all later!
