THE OCTOGENARIAN OCTOPUS!!!

WOOOOOOOOO!!!  January's done y'all!  This month just rolled right along, didn't it?  Hopefully all is well and everyone's ready for February.  But since there's still one day left, may as well finish off January right.  Enjoy...

Stay off his lawn, er, sand!  He's got eight arms and ain't afraid to use them!  This mad mollusk is the result of a hilarious Daily Doodle theme of an "Elderly Octopus!  This is another one that I just kinda ran with and had a blast drawing.  Sea critters are always fun to work with.  Their shapes, colors and movements make them an artists' dream!  Octopi in particular are cartoon naturals, much like jellyfish!  Perhaps it's time I work one into Bubble Fox?

And that's all she wrote for January!  One month down, 11 more to go!  Be sure to come back next week for more CRAZY antics in a new CRAZY month!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HARDBOILED HILARITY!!!

And we all float on...  Is it me or is January just a straight up drag?  Every other month is much more fun and festive.  At least we're almost through.  And hey!  Today's the 24th!  That means only 11 more months until Christmas Eve!  And before I catch any flack, let's be honest here.  How many of you were thinking that as well?  How many of you still have your lights up even?  Yeah, that's what I thought!  Anyway, y'all don't wanna hear me pine for the holidays.  Y'all wanna see some art (I hope), so let's get to it!  Enjoy...

I'm not gonna lie.  Lobster is so damn delicious!  But man do I hate the way they're cooked.  It just seems like such a harsh way to go.  Surely there's a more humane way to handle it.  If it's any consolation to the red crustaceans, at least they're really expensive!  I honestly can't remember whether this was for Sketch Dailies or the Daily Doodle, but I had a lot of fun drawing it.  At least the Lobster is content with his life and his fate!

And that's all for this week!  One more to go and we can call it for January, so be sure to come back next week and see how it all ends!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

GAME OVER, MATE!!!

Here we go again!  Middle of January!  Hopefully all is going well for you, dear readers.  And for myself because, hey, we all need a win every now and then, right?  Anyway, enough with the jibber jabber, it's time for some art!  Enjoy...

Better watch out for this maniacal marsupial!  He means business!  This week's theme was from Sketch Dailies way back when.  Their themes tend to target an older crowd, but every so often they hit upon a simple idea that all can enjoy and this was one of them.  The theme was "Karate Koala."  Doesn't get much more simple than that!  Couldn't help but think of an old episode of The Simpsons while drawing this, so I added the "Game Over Mate!" line for added chuckles!

And that's all for today!  We're halfway through the first month of 2018, but now's not the time to celebrate.  We still got two weeks of art to laugh at!  The countdown continues next week, so be sure to come back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all next time!

JUGGLIN' JIGGLIN' JELLIES!!!

Here we go again!  Week 2 and counting!  Got some fun art to present today, so why not dive right in, keyword here being "Dive!"  Anyhoo, enjoy...

Jellyfish of Jugglefish?  You decide!  This is another one from the Daily Doodle, who's theme of "Juggling Jellyfish" I clearly remember this time!  I had a lot of fun working on this one.  Simple as it is, it's just a real delight.  Jellyfish are cartoon naturals, like living water balloons!  And I don't see the Boss Jellyfish doing his part!  What a slouch!

And that's all for today.  We'll be back next time with some Thunder from down Under!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

2018 IS HERE!!! WITH ICE CREAM!!!

Welcome to the New Year my CRAZIES!!!  With so much potential yet to be discovered, let's skip all the dull stuff and get right into this week's art, shall we?  I mean, after three straight months of nonstop, holiday/seasonal art, I'm sure y'all are ready for something a normal for a change!  Enjoy...

These beetles are having the time of their lives!  I mean, if I was near a giant bowl of ice cream, I'd feel like I was in Heaven too!  This piece was done several years ago for the Daily Doodle.  I can't recall the exact theme, but do believe it was something along the lines of "Do something fun with beetles!"  Beetles and ice cream are always fun, so I ran with it!  I really wanted this piece to be as colorful as possible.  The New Year should be bright and cheery, and I vow to bring as much bright color into the lives of my fans as possible this year!  Think of me as a modern Rainbow Brite, only older.  And a dude.  And without a convenient magical belt to do all the work for me.  And without two arch enemies so inept they make the Wet Bandits look like the Good Fellas by comparison.  Hmmm...  I'm nothing like Rainbow Brite.  Guess I should've put more thought into this analogy.  Okay, think of me as Gallagher, but with markers instead of watermelons!  That works, right?

And that's all for the first week of the year!  We got 51 more to go after this, so hopefully things will only get better from here on out.  Anyway, we'll be back next week with new art that'll have have you juggling for joy!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HAVE SAPPY!!! HAVE A SAPPY!!! HAVE A SAP, SAP, SAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

THE END IS NEAR!!!  The end of 2017 that is!  I won't get into the sorted affairs of the world in this post.  Twitter and Facebook can sum it up much more graphically than I ever could.  Instead, I'll merely reflect on my experience with the year.

2017 had many up and many downs, as any year will really.  WonderCon and Comic Con were certainly high points for me, as they are every year to be honest.  It was a tight year financially for me, but that's almost become the norm in my life.  I'm about to not have to worry about my car payment anymore, so that's gonna help a lot.  Hopefully 2018 will be the year I finally make some gains for my future.

Losing my dad was obviously another hard blow.  It was something we weren't exactly shocked by, but at the end of the day, nothing prepares you for losing a parent.  It will always hit hard, no matter how expected.  I had a hard time with it initially, but the response that came from his passing was just mind blowing.  On Twitter, my timeline was flooded with condolences and well-wishes from pals, and a good many from total strangers even.  It reaffirms my faith in humanity in that there are still kind people in the world that would offer support to someone they don't know.  His wake had close to 200 people show up.  My greatest fear was being alone at his memorial because he'd burned so many bridges over the years.  To see that all these people still loved him and forgave him helped with the healing.  It was because of that, I was able to see my dad as I saw him as a child again and not as the shadow he had become towards the end.  In a way, he was redeemed.  It still saddens me he'll never get to see the great things my brother and I and his grandchildren have yet to accomplish firsthand, but I know in Heaven he looks down on us and is proud.

Creatively speaking, I'd say 2017 was a banner year for me.  Bubble Fox and the blog cartoons were very well received and I made strides in other art arenas that I'm very happy with.  Building my Halloween props for my front yard was a blast and got so many of my neighbors excited.  I even started taking another look at screenwriting this past year.  I look forward to more comics, more cartoons, more prop builds and who knows?  Maybe even a script or two in the coming year.

I'll end this post and 2017 with a simple plea to please be kind to one another.  Hatred is a vicious beast and one that is not easily defeated once it gets started.  By helping one another and just plain being nice, maybe we can make a difference.  Take care my CRAZIES.  May the coming year bring happiness and success to us all.  Catch y'all in 2018!

MIKE AND MINDY AND MISTLETOE!!!

We are back and well past the halfway point of December!  Christmas is just a few days away and already the North Pole is on lock down as Santa goes through his intense physical training regimen so he can be ready for the big night!  Given that he's been at it for over 2,000 years now, you'd think he'd have it down to a science by this point?

As you can see up top, Mike and Mindy have once again come out of cartoon retirement to bring some laughs just in time for the holidays!  Not sure why such highly poisonous plants like mistletoe, holly and poinsettias are the symbols of Christmas, but I suppose they work better than rotten apple cores, a pair of underwear and a Kenny G album!  During their run, many fans often asked me what Mike and Mindy's relationship truly was?  Were they siblings?  Cousins?  Friends?  "Serious" friends?  All good questions to which I always answered quickly, friends!  They're just really good friends!  Their habit of being comfortable around each other does give a family feel for sure, but the truth has always been these two tykes are just really good pals.  Good pals that will likely get married someday!  The basis for their relationship was always that of two kids that like each other, but don't know how to properly express it, hence the constant teasing/pranks between them.  We can all be goofs as kids, and these two were the embodiment of that.  So I hope that clears up the mystery of M&M!

And so ends all of the Holiday hubbub for the year.  Christmas will have passed by the next post and all eyes will be on the coming New Year!  It's never too late to help others this season so please donate while you still can!  Every little bit helps!  I wanna wish all of you a very safe, wonderful and Merry Christmas with all of your friends and loved ones.  Life changes very fast, so please cherish those around you and let bygones be bygones.  Until next time, take care and I'll catch y'all later and Merry Christmas!
