TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO KID'S GONE BEFORE!!!

And we're back!  April ends tomorrow, but that's OK.  Just means we are THAT much closer to Summer!  Of course, when you live where I do, it's almost always Summer, making those three legendary months a bit pointless!  But enough of that now!  The BBQ's will just have to wait because I got some artist-type to show you!  Enjoy...

This drawing came from the Daily Doodle last May, the theme being "Draw A Space Girl."  I especially had fun with this as kids and aliens are a blast to draw!  You can be really imaginative with them and add extra details, which made the girl's uniform a particular delight to design!  I loved giving her shoulder pads and a triple-domed helmet so her pigtails could have room!  As far as finishing a sketch goes, I've never done anything so drastic before with the background.  Every time I try to draw the wonders of space, it ends up turning into a big black square with white dots!  This had to look cool, so I let the real deal fill out the skies of this toon!

And so we conclude April, but we'll be back next time to kick off May with some new art and hopefully a positive review of the WonderCon 2015 experience!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HUEVOS RANCHEROS ES MUY MACHO!!!

And we're back!  In time for my birthday week no less!  Turning 30 hasn't been the big bad wolf I thought it'd be, although I still can't shake the feeling I should be further along than I am right now.  Hopefully 31 will lead me to new heights and happier days!  Anyway, here's another inked sketch!  Enjoy...

This total badass was done for Sketch Dailies last May on the day they did their "Create A Wrestler" theme.  At least I think that was the theme, I don't really remember!  This whole Luchadore deal stretches back quite a bit in my life, to when I was 14 and my dad got me my first mascara (mask).  Since then, I've been in love with the Lucha Libre style of wrestling, to the point that I intended to go to Mexico after high school and be a wrestler there!  Fate, obviously, intervened, and it never happened.  Still, I always had fun with it, amassing a HUGE collection of luchadore masks and even convinced my nephew that me and a couple of other uncles were all luchadores at one point, one of which was named "Huevos Rancheros," who has now been brought to life despite a rather severe grammar error in the picture above!  (My brain don't have a spell check installed!)

That's all for now folks.  We close out April next week with a doodle that will have everyone "Seeing Stars!"  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THOSE DAPPER EXTRA TERRESTRIALS!!!

Another week, another piece of original art!  One of the things I love about doing these drawings for the Daily Doodle and Sketch Dailies is that it takes me out of my comfort zone and forces me to draw things I never would have tried to or even thought to draw in the first place.  And the piece below is one such example...

I believe this was for Sketch Dailies some time last May.  The theme was "Draw An Alien Businessman."  I went with a slug-like alien because the body was easier to draw and I was likely already stretched for time.  The head is not something that'd be considered "My style," likely because of the eyes.  Gigantic round eyes are probably what I've become best known for at this point style-wise.  I figured this alien may be from a world where it's always bright, so his eyes are smaller to be better protected from the brightness.  And he does look very professional with that coat and tie!  He means business!  Can't remember how popular this one was, but I liked it, which is what matters most I guess.

Well, that's all for now.  I'll be back next time with another inked sketch from the CRAZY Archives (A.K.A., a shoebox under my bed!)!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

PINING FOR THE FJORDS!!!

We're back CRAZIES!!!  Was WonderCon great?  How should I know?  I cue these up WEEKS in advance!  Guess we'll know by the time I do the May updates!  (Or by any Twitter rants I may have already had!)  But enough trying to predict the future and possibly open worm holes!  I'm back to inking some pencil sketches I did last year!  So let's "Charge" on and see what my pens drew this time...

This sketch was originally done last May I believe for the Daily Doodle.  The theme that day was "Draw A Viking Boy," so I did!  This one was fun to sketch and had a lot of people laughing.  It seemed like something I would have done as a kid (CRAZY's not just a gimmick folks!), and in fact, many parents told me on Twitter that they too had gone chasing after their kids after they decided to go on an undies run of their own!  To be young and carefree again.  Those were the days!

Well, that's all for now.  We'll be back next week with another inked sketch for all to enjoy.  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

CRAZY CHARGES INTO WONDERCON… AGAIN!!!

That's right CRAZIES!  Despite a showing so poor it almost made me cry last year, I've gotten back up on my CRAZY horse and am giving WonderCon Anaheim one last shot!  I'll be in Artists' Alley again this year, pedaling my wares, including the BRAND NEW BUBBLE FOX BOOK, in addition to sketch cards and sketches!  So stop by, say hello and bring a little bit of the CRAZYVERSE home with you!

Here's the when, where and what of it all:

I will be in Artists' Alley at table B-10, Friday, April 3rd, through Sunday, April 5th, 2015.

My prices are as follows:

  • Classical Gas: A Bubble Fox Collection: $10.00
  • Mike And Mindy Books: $6.00 each
  • 8.5in x 5.5in Sketches: $5.00 each, FREE for kids 12 and under

  • WONDERCON SPECIAL: $30.00 for ALL four(4) books AND one sketch card! (While supplies last)
That's right!  I got solid deal for the CRAZYVERSE diehards or those that just like collecting funny comics!  My Con special would cost between $42-$50 online, but at WonderCon, $30 gets ya the whole thing, AND I can sign 'em!  Not bad eh?

As always, my only real policy is that ALL sketch requests, be it a card or page, MUST be PG, i.e., ALL AGES!!!  NO ADULT STUFF!!!  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

So come on down (Or up!) to Anaheim this weekend and chill with the CRAZIEST cartoonist alive!  It sure beats that term paper you were supposed to be typing up during Spring Break!

Although last year's show was a bit of a disaster for me, there was still a lot of great Cosplay to be seen, so here are some pics of the great time most people were able to have at WonderCon 2014...

 Megaman really wants those books!

With Gumby and Pokey on the Power Rangers' side, Rita and Goldar don't stand a chance!

Disneyland is three blocks north of the convention center in Anaheim.  Some Disney Cosplay was bound to happen!

Uh oh.  The Count's got the Infinity Gauntlet!  ONE!!!  ONE INFINITY STONE!!!  TWO!!!  TWO INFINITY STONES!!!  HA HA HA!!!

Everybdy felt much safer last year knowing that Zapp Brannigan was at WonderCon!

OOOOOOOH!!! THIS LEMONGRAB COSTUME WAS NOT UNACCEPTABLE!!!

"Super freak extraordinaire!  FREAKAZOID!!!  FREAKAZOID!!!"

Check it out Bro!  It's Muscle Man and Fives!

I'm not kidding when I say I ran into ten different Burt and Mary's at WonderCon last year!  Who knew Mary Poppins Cosplay was so popular?

Lily?  Why is there a Rebel Pilot behind you?

Well folks, that's all for now.  I'll be back next week returning to the inked doodles that were SUPPOSED to be the new staple here at the stuff!  Until then, have a safe and wonderful Easter and/or Passover.  And if you have a chance, stop by WonderCon and come say hello!  I'd love to meet y'all!  Take care and I'll catch y'all later!
