THE NUTCRACKER... SORT OF!!!

We've come to it at last: The end of March 2021.  Are things a little better now than they were four weeks ago?  I honestly don't know.  These are queued in advance after all.  Things were trending in the right direction at the end of February, so there's a halfway decent chance that trend is still happening.  We just gotta have faith.  For now things, things are stable, and that's not bad either.  Anyway, I do have some art to share, so let's scroll down and take a look, sound good?  Great!  Enjoy...

Nutcracker?  More like the ball busters!  The story behind this one is Animal Alphabets selected this theme two weeks after Christmas.  I have a pretty strict rule about not drawing holiday-themed art after the holidays end, so I decided to have a little bit of fun with this one.  A walnut shell and a saltine together technically do make a nut cracker, so I still followed the rules!  The Twitter crowd seemed to enjoy it, especially fellow cartoonist and pal Kim Belding, who was jealous that I out-punned him yet again!  I'm 55-0-1 in our Pun-Offs!

And that's a wrap on the month of March!  Be sure to come back next week as we get April off to a CRAZY start!  It's my birth month after all, so I gotta make sure it's as wild as it gets!  Until then, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

HATTER MADNESS IS COMIN' AT YA!!!

Huh?  A reader?  Oh wow!  How cool is that?  I have a post that needs to be seen and here you are giving it a look!  That's so kind of you!  Well, since you're taking the time to be here, I'll get right to the art!  Enjoy...

Uh oh.  If you thought he was mad before, then you REALLY ain't seen nothing yet!  The Mad Hatter takes nothing seriously, usually.  He does, however, have one rule that he lives and dies by:  Tea parties are for TEA!!!  The poor soul who drove thru Starbucks on the way over better pray he calms down.  There's no telling how much madder he'll get!  Another fun entry for Animal Alphabets, the Mad Hatter was the theme for M, despite not being a creature.  Animal or not, I had a blast drawing this one.  There's just something about off kilter characters that are so much fun to draw, especially their expressions.  Lots of room to play with.

Well, only one week left to go in March, but fear not!  I got something fun in store so that we'll end the month on a high note!  So be sure to come back and check it out!  Until then, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

LITTLE RED'S DETOUR!!!

Welcome back to the madness CRAZIES!!!  We have reached the middle of March!  Spring is here and with it, a new hope.  But enough about that.  You've come to see some cobbled together art, and I'm here to deliver!  So sit back, relax and try to keep an eye out for passing road signs!  Enjoy...

This is why I highly discourage merrily skipping through the woods.  It's too easy to lose yourself in the moment and the next thing you know, you're skipping to the wrong house!  Another Animal Alphabets entry, this one was a relatively simple piece.  The gag isn't very spectacular, but folks on Twitter seemed to really appreciate it.  Hopefully y'all will too.

That's all for today folks.  Be sure to stop by next week as the Macho Madness will be coming at ya!  You'll need some chamomile to calm down!  Until then, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

DON'T BE TOO TRUSTING!!!

We are back!  The world's still turning somehow and we are all eager to get back on track.  But, we still got a little ways to go, so why not enjoy some more fairytale-themed art while we patiently bide our time? Enjoy...

With eyes like that, how can we not trust him?  I mean, not all snakes are evil ya know?  We continue our trek down the Animal Alphabets fairytale path, landing on the letter K and Kaa the snake from The Jungle Book.  Not exactly a fairytale, but it is a work of classic literature and later inspired one of Disney's best animated features, as well as two under appreciated live action adaptations from the Mouse House.  In the cartoon, Kaa is an inept villain mostly played for laughs.  In the book, he's a much more serious character whose sinister nature leaves you guessing.  For the art, I decided to take the cartoon's approach as more people are familiar with it.  This one was fun to draw.  Kept it simple and took up more of the page than I usually do.  Also happy with the depth of the piece.  It's obvious how vast he is.

Well, that's all I got for now.  But if you come back next week, I promise to have some more fun art ready and we might even get a treat from granny!  So be sure to come back and give it a look!  Until next time, stay safe, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK!!!

Welcome to March CRAZIES!!!  It's a new month and a new outlook!  I guess it'd be best to start with the obvious elephant in the room... Darn it Wilbur!  Get out of here!  You're not the elephant in question!  Goofy pachyderm!  Where was I again?  Oh yeah, the bad news: No CRAZY WonderCon Countdown this year.  The show's been cancelled again and it's not looking like it's gonna be rescheduled either.  That can and hopefully will change for later in the year, but for now it's not looking good.  On the plus side, things are starting to look better as far as future outlook is concerned.  Obviously, "Cautious Optimism" are the keywords here, but some good news is always better than no good news.  What does this mean for future gatherings?  Hard to say.  But if numbers continue to improve at the rate that they have, maybe we can have a semblance of normalcy this summer.  It's 50/50 right now as I type.  Only time will tell and hopefully things will continue to improve.

Guess you can say things haven't quite worked out as I'd hoped.  So, since there ain't gonna be no past WonderCon pics, and we're all here anyway, I say we check out some hellacious art!  Enjoy...

Well, that's one way to get up that beanstalk!  Jack would've likely needed some air anyway by the midway point!  We return to the world of Animal Alphabets this month and their fairytale creatures theme, even though Jack of Jack and the Beanstalk fame is actually a human.  To the animals, I'm sure WE are the creatures.  And yes science nerds, I'm aware that regular air would NOT be enough to make Jack float up.  It's a fairytale!  ALL gas rises in that world!  This was a fun one to work on as it involves a kid and a cartoon gag, two of my favorite things to draw!  Fairytales offer so many opportunities as far as parody is concerned.  And they're all in the public domain too, so... Fair game!  Ever since this theme I've toyed with the idea doing a graphic novel of twisted fairytales.  It's not an original idea by any means as many artists have done them, but it just seems like a fun project to try.

And that's all for this first week of March.  We'll be slithering back next week with eye-catching art that's really great!  You just gotta trust me on this!  Until then, stay safe take care and I'll catch y'all later!
