TASK MASTER RONALD!!!

We've reached the end again.  The end of May!  Summer is just about here and a LOT of awesome stuff is on the horizon!  But more on that later.  Right now, it's time to finish off McDonald's May with the Killer Clown himself, Ronald McDonald!  Enough of the jibber jabber, it's art time!  Enjoy...

Ronald McDonald has humble beginnings.  What started as a last ditch creation at a Washington, DC McDonald's after a local TV station cancelled their version of the Bozo the Clown Show, thus cutting their ability to use Bozo, has since become one of the most iconic characters ever.  Ronald didn't seem to have any real power in McDonaldland, and yet it always fell on his shoulders to protect the land and its citizens from the dark forces that constantly crept in.  And originally, there was nothing darker than the Grimace!  In later years, he and Ronald became dear friends, but originally, he was a four-armed terror who constantly stole milkshakes.  Never mind the fact that they flowed from milkshake volcanoes and thus could've been obtained for free, but hey, Ronald and pals were also always in a rush to go buy McDonald's food despite it growing all around them!  I'm beginning to think there weren't too many college graduates living in McDonaldland!  Anywho, Grimace clearly pushed his luck too many times and Ronald finally had enough.  Clearly this tough punishment taught Grimace a valuable lesson as he lost two of his arms and his urge to steal!  Wow.  This post took a pretty dark turn.  This is almost like slasher fan fiction here!  This seems like a good stopping point.

And so ends the Merry Month of McDonald's May.  Thank you all for putting up with these wild McDonaldland theories with me.  It's a silly theme, I know, but these old mascots were always a lot of fun as a kid and the fact is, McDonald's had some insanely detailed commercials way back when!  McDonaldland almost looked real even!  But in this age of it being bad to market fast food to kids, they all had to fade away.  At least there's always YouTube to keep the memories alive.

And now because this post isn't already long enough, I got some huge news : The CRAZY Comic Con Countdown is back and it begins next week!  Nine weeks straight of past Comic Con fun to get us ready for that big day in July!  So be sure to come back next week and count it all down with me!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THE INEDIBLE FRY KIDS!!!

Hitting the home stretch here for McDonald's May!  Our next subjects might well be the weirdest inhabitants of McDonaldland.  Who could they possibly be?  Scroll down and find out!  Enjoy...

The Fry Kids, originally the Fry Goblins.  These pompoms with legs and googly eyes were literally just that: Pompoms with legs and googly eyes.  They started out as evil fry thieves, but during McDonald's mid-80's "Friendly Injection" they became the fry kids and even had some girls added to the mix, which simply meant adding eyelashes to a few of the googly eyes.  Nobody will ever accuse McDonald's of not being subtle, that's for sure.  Aside from being easy to draw, I can't really say that there was anything special about the Fry Kids, save for them being the least creepy characters in all of McDonald's lore.  Which actually is saying something!

And so ends another week.  We'll be back next time to finish off May with Big Red himself, so stay "Tooned!"  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

RABBLE RABBLE!!!

We are midway through May!  And the McDonaldland callback continues!  We've seen some heroes so far, but I think it's time we meet some bad guys.  And the Darth Vader of McDonald's lore is on deck today!  So let's have a seat and munch on some McNuggets while we launch into today's post!  Enjoy...

We all know who this deviant creep is, largely because McDonald's brought him back a few years ago and REALLY focused on the "deviant" aspect before sending him packing again.  Yup, this week we spotlight the Hamburglar!  Despite the fact that hamburgers grew in vine-like patches in McDonaldland, and thus could've been legally harvested by anyone for free, the Hamburglar always chose to steal his food because, well, the dude obviously had some issues.  Whether it was the thrill of the chase or the fact that he was just plain cheap, the Hamburglar was rarely successful in his pursuit of burgers and it was often out of sheer pity he got any food at all!  I chose the second incarnation of the Hamburglar for my art because, well, the other two were just plain creepy.  The original hamburglar looked like a mutant rat with a bad Halloween mask, while the third, more recent one, looked like he should be on a certain list!  I'd say what his nickname was among fans, but I try to keep this blog family-friendly!  So childlike second Hamburglar it was!

And that's all for now.  We'll be back next week with some characters that I'm sure were made on the fly after a prop man had the most random objects imaginable thrown his way before a commercial shoot!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

BIG MAC'S BIG JUSTICE!!!

We are back!  It's Week 2 of our trip down memory lane with the fun inhabitants of the legendary McDonaldland!  Once again, the Daily Doodle had a fun theme of McDonaldland characters (that I actually helped inspire) a few years ago and now I'm going back and inking those old sketches and posting them here for your amusement!  I got something BIG planned for today, so let's jump right in!  Enjoy...

McDonaldland had its fair share of hooligans over the years, but all eventually faced the wrath of Chief Big Mac!  This brave soul risked life, limb AND skull to keep the streets safe from from rogues looking to steal food or quite possible eat him!  I mean, seriously: His head is a giant Big Mac!  You think no one ever thought of trying to eat his head at some point?  I'm not exactly sure what was in the water over there in McDonaldland to give us all these human/hamburger hybrids, but they sure do manage to do some big things in life!  Mayors, police chiefs...  Was the McDonaldland City Attorney a McDLT?  I try not to eat at McDonald's too often, but I gotta admit that every so often, a Big Mac attack hits and I gotta get me one or two or ten!  Those damn things are addictive!

And so ends another week of burger memories.  I'll be back next time with a rabblerouser who's gone through some changes over the years but always has the same goal in mind.  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

WHAT A CHEESY MAYOR!!!

Welcome to May CRAZIES!!!  And welcome back Blog Toons!  I know it's been a while since I posted original art here, but what can I say?  WonderCon's that big and I have some really amazing friends out there who decided to cheer me up one day.  I had to spotlight them all!  But hey!  It's art time!  So lets jump back in with some delicious (Depending on how you look at fast food) subjects!  Enjoy...

Aw, Mayor McCheese.  The colorful,  Ed Wynn-voiced, cheeseburger-headed Mayor of McDonaldland!  Many kids today likely aren't aware of the fact that McDonald's, along with many other fast food joints, had mascots once upon a time.  They laughed, played and enticed us to come eat at their establishments and apparently helped contribute to the obesity epidemic.  Apparently a clown and a man born with a burger for a head are responsible for our own bad dining choices we willingly make, but that's neither here nor there!  McDonaldland was a fun, vibrant world where hamburgers grew in patches, apple pies grew on trees and freakishly large talking birds delivered breakfast right to your bed!  And it was all ruled over by the man above, the honorable Mayor McCheese!  No one knows exactly how he came to power or why he continually runs unopposed every election, but his track record speaks for itself.  During his terms, Captain Crook and Grimace both renounced their evil ways while Hamburglar attacks have decreased significantly!   Yup, this guy's a rarity amongst politicians: Honest and fair!  Mayor McCheese was actually a little before my time, but I always remember seeing him and other characters at the playgrounds at most McDonald's I went to.  This month's theme came about after the Daily_Doodle overheard a few of us reminiscing about old McDonald's commercials one day and they decided to make a whole week of it!  So this month is McDonald's May!  All the fast food fun minus the fast food guilt!  Sweet deal, eh?

And thus concludes today's post!  We'll back next week with a cop who dishes out BIG justice to the scum of McDonaldland!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
