DRAGON'S FIRE!!!

And we're back to close out the month of April!  Turned 32 a couple of days ago, which is kinda weird but age happens.  Can't turn that clock back so might as well enjoy what time I still got.  Hopefully a LOT of it!  Anyway, as Mr. T would say, CUT THE JIBBER JABBER, FOO!!!  I AIN'T GOT TIME FOR NO JIBBER JABBER!!! GET TO WORK!!!  Alright, don't know about the "Get to work" line, but he said the other stuff!  Anyway, enjoy…

Gotta be honest, I never really watched the Dungeons And Dragons cartoon when it came on.  Namely because it only aired for a season and it came on before I was born.  Kinda complicates things a bit.  In an era where shows that literally lasted an episode could be syndicated nonstop, D&D never really caught on anywhere, which is odd given how insanely popular the game is.  These things happen sometimes.  But Daily Doodle remembered it and I just couldn't pass up the chance to draw a dragon, and this one is pretty cool!

And that's it for April 2016!  Hope the month was a good one for you all!  We'll be back next time to start May off the best way I know how; WITH ART!!!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

IF IT FLIES, I CAN CRASH IT!!!

HERE I AM!!! *DUH DUH DA-DUH* ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE!!!  What?  Oh!  Sorry folks! All this retro art has me on a bit of an 80's kick I'm afraid.  The only way to cure it is with even MORE retro art!  So let's fly on down to Duckberg and chill with the best pilot ever!  Provided he don't crash the plane again!  Enjoy…

"Life is like a hurricane
Here… In… Duck-berg!
Race cars, lasers, airplanes!
It's a Duck-blurr!"
God I love that theme song!  One of my all-time favorite shows as a kid, Ducktales had it all: Action, comedy, an awesome theme song and, of course, Launchpad McQuack!  Quite possibly the most popular character to ever come out of the Disney Afternoon syndication lineup, Launchpad really was awesome!  He was a total klutz (The dude kept a bingo book of all the vehicles he had crashed!), and yet was still brave, daring and loyal to the end.  He seemed real to us kids, which is probably why so many were drawn to him.  When Daily Doodle picked him as one of the themes for retro week, I was drawn to Launchpad again!  This is one of the few pieces I've had to color all-digitally.  There were just too many wide spaces for even coloring with my markers.  I think he came out pretty good.

Well, one more week to go and April 2016 is in the books.  But fear not!  I got some art to close out the month that'll singe everyone's scales!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

GO GO GADGET FAN ART!!!

Welcome back!  Today's totally grody to the max, no?  I got some mondo art for you that, like, totally takes me back to the glory days!  Just let me strap on my Airwalks and we can get to to it!  Enjoy…

Wowzers!  Another early show from the old days of Nickelodeon, Inspector Gadget never failed to entertain!  It was actually one of the few DIC-produced shows I liked as a kid, back when they actually put effort into their animation.  As I said last week, Nick was still a very young channel, so outside of Pinwheel and Double Dare, almost all the other shows were outsourced during that time, Gadget being among them.  Inspector Gadget was like every kid's dream: A cyborg with super cool tech to fight crime… Even though the cyborg in question had little to no clue how to use said tech!  Even after Nick started their own animation unit and their live action shows took off, the Inspector still found his way back to schedule every now and again, up through 1997.  Will he ever come back?  Who knows?  I will say this though,  Nick's "The Splat" lineup has been very generous with fan requests, so there's always a chance!

And that's a wrap for today!  We'll be back next time with everyone's favorite "Fowl" pilot!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

FLU BUGS, PUFFER POOCHES AND DANGER MICE!!!

April is here!  And I for one am stoked!  Aside from it being Spring time now, it's also my birthday month!  And if that weren't enough, I got art celebrating some childhood classics all month long AND a special new comic I'm premiering today!  Ain't that grand?  So let's dive right in!  Well, lightly step.  The pool's shallow after all.  Enjoy...

That Flu Bug is certainly full of himself!  The inspiration for this came from my dear friend Sheena Monahan, whose son, Hunter, had the flu.  She said a nasty bug had hit him and she wanted revenge!  Hunter loves dogs (Who doesn't?!), so I decided to call on a heroic newcomer to battle this dastardly insect: Puffer Pooch!  You see, Puffer Pooch owes his very creation to Sheena.  Last year, she organized a most wonderful effort to raise money for a boy named Alex who was battling cancer.  Alex's two greatest loves are dogs and super heroes, so Sheena combined them into a big coloring book project where artists from around the globe created hero dogs to be colored in.  My entry was a short comic about a young beagle who can bloat up named Puffer Pooch.  I've been itching to put this pup in another comic, and Sheena's request made it necessary!  Alex, thankfully, has recovered from his battle and Hunter eventually beat the real flu bug too.  Hopefully someday, we'll see even more of Puffer Pooch down the road!

And now for something completely different…

"He's the greatest!  He's fantastic!  Wherever there's danger he'll be there!"  Those lyrics can mean only one thing: DANGER MOUSE IS HERE!!!  One of my favorite toons when I was very little, my first exposure to Danger Mouse was during the early years of Nickelodeon, back when Pinwheel was shown for several hours every morning and green slime still played a role in the network's theming.  You see, Nick really didn't do much original programming during their first decade or so, so most of their shows early on were either picked up from the first-run syndication market or were foreign imports, mostly from Canada, England and Japan.  Some shows were better than others as different cultures have different humor styles, but Danger Mouse always seemed to work for everyone!  Needless to say, when the Daily Doodle did an 80's toons week, there was no way I was missing out!

Well, that's all for this week.  Got plenty more retro fun in store for April, so bust out your Aquanet and Member's Only jackets and get ready for some totally awesome action dude!  Trust me, next week's toon will light up all your "Gadgets!"  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!
