ALIENS ALIENS EVERYWHERE!!!

WOO HOO!!!  MARCH IS OVER!!!  Aside from being less than a month away from my birthday now, we are also less than nine months away from Christmas and less than four months away from Comic Con!  All's looking pretty good right now!  Anyway,  I wanna bring this month to a close in style, and who better to do it with than some colorful aliens?  So let's dive right in!  Enjoy…

Now these guys look like a fun bunch!  I loved coloring this piece!  Haven't tested it yet, but I wanted this art to glow under a black light!  That's probably what I miss the most about drawing Mike And Mindy and Mushrooms.  Colors were such a fun thing to do.  It was very therapeutic in a weird way.  Glad I got these blog toons to keep my skills sharp at least.  I honestly can't remember whether this theme was for the Daily Doodle or Sketch Dailies, but it is one of my all-time favorites!

Well, that's a wrap for March.  We'll be back next week to kick April off in grand fashion!  Until then, take it easy and I'll catch y'all later!

THAT APPETITE'S A "WITCH!!!"

And we're back!  I tell ya, queueing up blog posts after about two weeks of sleep deprivation makes it really hard to do sometimes.  Of course, when future Jon sees this, he'll probably laugh at Past Jon's misfortune, even though this very same predicament will eventually befall Future Jon when he becomes Present Jon!  Anyway, that's enough tired ramblings.  It's time for some art!  Enjoy…

I've often wondered what witch thinks that building a house out of cookies and candy is a good idea?  I mean, yeah, it's a bait house for the witch's meal, but seriously!  Fairy tale forests are loaded with hungry kids!  A witch can't stand up to a swarm of them!  And then there's enchanted ants and other bugs that are likely gonna be attracted to it too!  Don't witches ever think of these things?  NO!!!  And for that I'm thankful, otherwise I wouldn't have had any material to do this Daily Doodle theme!  And if Hansel's anything like my nephew, he very well COULD polish off that gingerbread house in one sitting!

Well, that's four down, one more to go in the month of March.  I got a very colorful cast of characters coming in to see that we send March 2016 off in style, so be sure to come back!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

NO TIME TO "MONKEY" AROUND!!!

Mid-March already?  Does life have a pause button?  I could really use one right now.  No?  Oh well.  Guess we'll just have to look at some civilized monkey art instead!  Enjoy…

Dear me!  Who knew monkeys could be so polite?  This piece resulted from a Daily Doodle theme that I think was simply two monkeys talking.  I thought it would be funnier if the monkeys in question were right proper gentlemen, sharing a spot of tea.  Good call on my part!  Why, I bet they spray their poo with potpourri before flinging it at passerby!

Well folks, that's all for this week.  Next time, I got some art in store that I hope will induce some big laughs from you.  Big BELLY laughs even!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

THE CAT'S OUT OF THE.. BOX?!

Hey hey!  We are back and I hope you're in need of some cat art!  I mean, if you aren't, you're still welcome to look at it, but the feeling might not be the same.  Either way, enjoy…

Cat's are cartoon naturals, they just are.  Whether it's due to their often pompous appearance, their enjoyment of such simple things as cabinets and string or their amazing ability to go boneless pretty much whenever, there's a reason so many cartoonists pick cats to be the stars of there comics and cartoons.  There's just a ton of material to work with!  I don't recall the exact theme of this piece, but it came from the Daily Doodle and I didn't have to look far for inspiration.  My cat Sparky is a sweet kitty, but pretty territorial. He's laid claim to ALL the furniture in my house and let's my dog know in a very physical manner that she is not welcome on his couch!  He's the King of the castle for sure!

Well, that's all for this week.  We'll be "Flinging" some new art your way next time, so no "Monkeying" around!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all later!

GETTIN' MAD WITH A MAD!!!

Welcome to March my CRAZIES!  So much to talk about but so little time to do it in...  Where to begin?  Well, I guess the new art to kick the month off with is a good starting point, so here it is…

He's mad I tell you!  MAD!!!  Anyone who knows me knows I'm a HUGE fan of the legendary Mystery Science Theater 3000.  My Aunt Marisa, being the amazing gal that she is, introduced me to this great show when I was seven, and I've been hooked ever since!  I even dropped some money that should've been used on bills to bring it back on Kickstarter!  So when Sketch Dailies asked us all to draw a Mad Scientist one day, there was only ONE clear choice as to who I was gonna draw: Dr. Clayton Forrester!  Now if only someone would do a TV's Frank theme!

Well, San Diego Comic Fest has come and gone and it was a tremendous success!  I did very well on my sketch card sales and had a wonderful time co-hosting a Kids Comics panel with my good friend Joshua Hauke, creator of Tales Of The Brother Three.  Only four people came to it, none of them kids oddly enough, but it was still a lot of fun creating a monster on the spot!  I promise to post a more polished version of the Crayon Lazarus (The Monster) in the near future!  Made many new friends, caught up with some old ones and am already looking forward to next year's show!  All in all, a very fun weekend!

Well, that's all for this week.  I'll be back next time with some art that may make you feel "Boxed" in!  Until then, take care and I'll catch y'all next time!
